Ok there are two two things that I need explaining to me from the Rya report,
1 "The steering was modified with new hydraulic hoses with a slightly larger diameter than standard" what difference is that going to make?
2 75percent tension on the steering? If 0percent is free and 100 percent is locked then is 75 not going to be fecking hard work?

If the pipework is a bit small, any very quick movements of the steering (correcting roll for example) will be harder, it will feel like it has a damper on it (which it sort of would have) as the hydraulic fluid will be struggling though the pipes & unions. But like stirring thick porridge. Larger bore hose & fittings would reduce that.

FWIW, I've seen the video of the test day and the boats were put through some pretty sticky manoeuvres close in the wake of another, through turns etc, and appeared to behave perfectly well, so maybe there's more driver error than anything else when these mishaps are occurring.

Isn't it an inherent problem with one make racing? Particularly where set up is governed too... If the only way to pass the guy in front of you is to push it closer to the limit than him, it's inevitable that people are going to cross those limits!

Personally I think the Panthers are hideous, they look like they're racing in slow motion, and for the money they cost people could buy 2 or 3 decent 200hp race boats and have some proper fun!

Jon
I was kind of assuming that the pipes weren't too small in the first place.
Sorry Jon I may have been a bit vague to clarify my question. The report states in point 5 that "the steering should be modified to reduce the number of turns?"
So in what I take to be the reply to point 5 the report states"The steering was modified with new hydraulic hoses with a slightly larger diameter than standard "
and what is the 75 and 50 percent resistance about.
My questions stand,

I don't know.

Doesn't the capliano helm pump have adjustable displacement with a turn-knob? this would obviously change the ratio, or turns lock to lock, and maybe the 50% & 75% are representative numbers of that setting??

I'm guessing, Neil Holmes would be the guy to ask as he was there on test day.

Ok so if they are able to up the displacement rather than the resistance then larger hoses would make sense

These boats are currently laid up by Mystic Powerboats. They are then shipped off and interior/rigging and windshields are installed elsewhere.
