Jon do you have any drawings up together of how she will look? I like the sound of reducing the cockpit area and making the deck ´longer´. Should look 'just right'. I always liked the class 3 phantoms as they were proportionally good looking, but the 28 etc and now 31 never quite did it for me with that enormous cockpit area - but your proposals should correct that (for me anyway).

I think it might!!!!!!!!! But it would probably be WARLORD II tis only a guess............I'm probably wrong????

Jon,can you give us any more snippets, this is big news.....How long to find her? Where did you find her, Is she complete? Is the engine in her the one as in the pic i posted? Drive? etc etc etc. IMHO One of best class II boats built and raced......it would still win today.

When you have the full history of the boat would you like to put it on the history section of the COPOC site

Yeh, or better still go & bicker somewhere else! (apologies if the 'bickering' is just an in-joke I don't get but this is/was an interesting thread.)

Am away at present, in sunny Madeira, but when I get back, I'll put a few pictures up, and some of the info I have on the boat.

Other than the sexy bits like the injection & trumpets, the engie is no more.

It still has an immaculate looking Mk III speedmaster on it.

Unfortunately, some of the boat (topsides and deck) have been painted, so plenty of aggro getting that off first!

No interior to speak of, as it's all been removed.

Structuraly, it looks pretty good.

Deck is nasty!

Once the new deck has been done, and tooling taken from it, this hull may well get the new deck, and get run as a single engine setup of some sort, mebbe even a deisel RB4 entry, who knows.

What I'd really like (and intend doing) is the deck restyling I mentioned, and putting a staggered setup together for fast pleasure use.

moulds at drivers are nothing to do with me, they're Extreme moulds.

Another 'period' picture of 'WARLORD'

Sunny Madeira, lucky you. Have you done the basket chair down the mountain yet? And the Botanical gardens are worth a visit.
Agood idea in Madeira is to ask a nice taxi man if he does an island tour most of them do for about £60. They know all the best places to go and the best places to eat during the day.

"Phantom 31"

Jon just on a different note whats the story with towing it.Is the whole thing not too long to tow with the likes of a range rover or such like for some reason i thought the max length was 35 feet and your new beasty must be close on 40 feet with the hitch and lighting board.Anyone out there knowing please let us know as we wouldnt want Mr F getting into any trouble with those lovely fellas that uphold the law for us. It would mess up your whole day if you got one that had just been on a training course and decided that you couldnt tow it any further. It would be a bit like turning up with some friends to go out on your boat and finding some inconsiderate arse had parked their car infront of yourboat so the boat yard couldnt launch your boat for you eh Jon.

Most of us break the law when towing. A vehicle under 3.5 ton gross can only tow up to 7m in length. To tow up to 12m in lenght you need a vehicle over 3.5ton gross. The twin wheel Sprinters or Iveco most are 4-5ton are ok but max lenght of rig is 18m.

Big american pickups i think are fine as there gross is over 3.5ton.

Even most police dont know the rules. I was stopped towing the Bladerunner with the truck, and they argued amongst themselvves for about 15 minutes on the length issue, then decided only to weigh the rig to see if I exceeded the weight limits - which was all they knew...

Thats true aswell. What some one told me years ago is if it looks right you should be ok. ie 4x4 vehicle

Seat belt law with private hire cars and taxis is the same.

Well I\'m going to have fun at 51 foot combined (15.54 mts) LOA, Well in on weight but not sure on the vehicle weight rated at a 2800Kg pull (Lancruiser LC5). Guess that will put me under the 3500kg so max would be 7 mts OOPS !!!!!

Warlords Deck

Sorry Jon, I have to disagree with your thoughts.......if a new style deck is fitted to WARLORD ( " It will not be WARLORD any more " ) just another x race boat thats been messed with. IMHO i think it should be restored exactly as it was in the 1980s including the seating arrangements 2+1 etc. New engine....Yes but with injection and those lovely trumpets. This was and is a special boat. Fit a new deck, but on WARLORD II..........
