Phantom 031 'WARLORD'

After some considerable private investigation work, I located the illusive Phantom 31 'Warlord' late last year. It had been (like so many old race boats) sitting warm & dry in a workshop for the last ten years.
A ways down the line, and following a bit of lengthy negotiation, I now find myself the proud new owner of this unique (the only one produced, no tooling remains) and as far as I know, the only uncopied Phantom boat design in existance.

from the Graham Stevens archive:

Not bad, but there'll be a few changes before the moulds are taken from it.

Steve is 'on board' so to speak.

Congrats

Thats a great find and purchase!

Does she still have a working lump and if so, what is it?

Is someone going to be producing some then?

Cheers

Al

Brian, 1982. it's first race, where it hadn't yet had the screen painted.

Doc, Keikheafer Aeromarine/Mercruiser 600hp motor. block is shagged, though all the lovely fuel injection, trumpets etc remains. Will make a nice museum piece.

No, no intention to produce & sell any boats at all. (other than my own)

when the owner bought the boat many moons ago, with good intentions, someone had removed the Kiekheafer trim tabs, so he bought a brand new set to replace them, they're still new in the box! ...Luuuuuuuuvly!

Fantastic, with Jf owning it, this great unique Phantom will be safe from splashers, it sure will be a great chance for some, if JF can manage to pull it all together with Mr Bakers help and build some new models..perhaps JF you would consider racing the original in the classic race series...

Nice one Jon!
I'm guessing it was a whole new design/manufacture?
i.e. not just 3' on the end of a 28?
are you just taking the mouldings to have a new one for yourself?

Jon would it not be sensible to let someone build them under some form of license assuming agreement can be sought from the designer ?

Assuming the boat performs well, and based on the video it looks impressive in those big seas, it seems such a waste for the genuine article to not be available for legitimate purchase. I imagine Mr Davis could build some fitting examples ?

Jon can you give more detial about the build
eg kevlar bulsa cored etc
how much does it weigh?
was the extra 3 ft just added infront of the screen or is the cocpit bigger?
I dont understand,
why go to the huge expense to make only 1 boat then destroy the tooling?
