phantom 18 kevlar??

A friend of mine has a Phantom 18 hull which has the kevlar in the layup. It is currently sat in a field doing nothing. It`s rather tatty and unloved at the moment.

What is the "kevlar" all about? it looks just like normal fibreglass to me but there are darker vertical stripes in the side layup. The hull was supplied 2nd hand by Nick barsh who told him it was a kevlar so I guess he knew what he was on about.

How would it go with a Yamaha 200Hp V6? ANy idea on rough speed?
Or would a newer ex OCR19 or 18xl hull be better with the same engine?

I'm sure others will have their opinion, but generally the 18 is a bit more forgiving in the corners and the 19 will be a bit quicker in a straight line - if you're not racing it is just down to personal preference and wallet size! Ask Nick to quote you for a new one!

Derek Basham had one of the Kevlar ones that I navigated in and it handled a lot better after putting a layer of regular glass up the sides to take the "springiness" out of it!

I dont know, it is caramel coloured hull with sprayed (faded) red deck, black windscreen. It has green stripes on the side and, I think "393" or similar on the sides. Huge great fuel tank and the ballast tank is huge and sunk into the hull. I think it was a ski racer.
