Phantom 21

Hi guys,
Just bought my first boat to race in , a Phantom 21 with a 200hp XR2 Merc, and is Kevlar.

I bought the boat from Chris or Roofer as he is known on the site, she was called "Lilly the Pink" and had two 260 efi on her and is definately pink.

I am trying to trace any history of the boat if anyone can help, Roofer thought it was used for the Womens British Sking championships.
the hid is 040H if thats any help.

Any help is much appreciated .

Thanks

Paddy the Phantom

I think this boat may have been owned by someone at Chasewater a few years back, John Lonsdale I believe. I skied behind ir once years ago and remember the very distinctive pink colour. Was an F2 boat back then if I remember correctly. This was back in about 1995/1996 ish possibly.

Hi Stean, appreciate the help,I will do a search for Chasewater and see what i can dig up. Yes it is a distinctive PINK, so much so ,i would say it would be hard to anything else.1995 /1996 could be right ,she was made in 95 i think .

Thank for the help Stean. The search continues.

I might be totally wrong, but I cant imagine there being many phantoms made in that colour. Was a nice rig back then.

Thanks Mate, thats what i thought ,in its day i would say it turned some heads alright ,in pink ,maybe not all the right ones though !
It is my first proper power boat,so a lot of learning to do before the racing begins, but got her up to 68 mph with a 200hp xr2 , on my 2nd run out ,on a 26 clever, bit hairy on my own she did not seem to well balanced when trimmed out ,felt like she was falling left to right on the chines ,but it was probely my driving to be fair.

Thanks again Stean, what are you driving ?

Thats a big prop to be swinging on a 200 XR2 - what revs you pulling?

Also, how high is the motor. Chine walking could be cos its a little too high. Some say you can drive through it. Never managed that myself - way too scarey!

The max I was getting was 5,800 rpm using the 26 , about 1100 rpm off on a laser 21 prop used two weeks before ,height wise ,the engine is sitting about an 1" from the top of the transom , with the leg trimmed in ,the gearbox / water pickup sits level with the bottom of the transom.

Hope that makes sense!!!! I tried everything i knew ,which is not much to keep her up on the v ,but to no avail. Only when i trimmed back in did she start become controllable again, water was very flat to be fair,so i was surprised .

Would love to think i could drive through it but like you said ,did nt have the balls.

Thanks for the help, from the looks of it i will need lots!
