they will run longer but you would be playing a very dangerous game as if it lets go then it makes a proper mess and you'll probably be able to see a con rod by just lifting the cowl off if this happens expect to spend at least 3 to 4k putting it right

i used to run a 260 i didnt bother with a rebuild and leart my lesson in a big way as mine blew and couldnt be repaired i ended up buying one in the US and then sending it back every year for a rebuild!! great engines though cant get better than the noise when running at over 8000rpm

hi john , i think it's good you've finally gone for something a little more " practical" if thats the word to use, if you want something that you can use causauuly and also race im sure ed told me of a ring 25 for sale, you could try contact him or talk to him at the next meet, he said he anted it but he doesn't have much money , if i speak to him or see him around i'll ask him about it and give you info if your interested.... you've obviously been directed to buying ring following our victory on sunday's race :P

The phantom at the top that john asked about was sold from selsey down here in west sussex through littlehampton marina mebbe last year?begining of this year? to the guy who owns the boatyard sellin it now. He supposedly bought it for himself but i think he found it abit "lairy". Engine is genuine low hours from new and was mint when it left here. Not a bad boat really.

Guys - thanks very much for all your help!
Everything leads me to believe that this isn't the best value Phantom out there, and that, by the time I've delivered it to Guernsey, and factored in a rebuild over the next year (whcih I'll have to send the powerhead to the UK for as the local dealers recommend a specialist does it (!)) it's going to be a pretty damn pricey prospect!
Coupled with my uncanny ability to break engines means I'm probably onto a loser with this!
Thanks especailly to Cookee who was going to go down and have a look at it for me! Cookee- am expecting a PM before you head this way next so I can see you right!!!!
Cheers All!
