Phantom 23 bottom pictures

Hi!

Two questions;

Is there any out there producing Phantom 23? Orginal ofcourse, How will it handle 2 x Merc 280 EFI SS engines?

Any people out there who has experienced with props using twin installation on a Phantom 25. As mentioned above I have tested some, but I have good reviews on Raker props (has to be reworked to fit Merc), Merc Choppers, etc. Any other brands tested?

Cheers and thanks

Toffen

I know of a guy in England who had a P23 with 2 x Merc 280 EFI engines (perhaps tuned engines). I think he said something about 110mph. He told me that this wasn't the maximum, the boat would have gone faster if he had pushed it to the max...

Pretty sure John G from this forum purchased it.

The twin efi P23 was put together by Neil Holmes for a customer (John Evans?), though it started life as a single. I think it did around the 100mph mark. And yes, it is indeed the one now owned by John G.

There was also a black one with twin Yamaha's, called The Phantom Menace

Hi

How is the driving capabilities of the Phantom 23 vs Phantom 25 in high seas, and at wot (in excess of 80 mph)?

My Phantom 25 is not really full 25 feet in Norwegian terms. 25 feet is 7,62 meters. My boat is 7,5 meters. How long is the Phantom 23 in meters?

Cheers and thanks, Toffen

I'm not qualified to comment, as I haven't driven either model.

However, I know Steve Baker considers the later P23 to be the best design he did, and he thinks it would out perform a 25 in the rough.

Neil Holmes on here (Phantom Evolution) would be very well qualified to pass judgement, maybe he could chip in.

Hi,

Thanks! Do you know anyone out there building 23 Phantoms in original design? I got a quote from Uk 2 years back, but I can not remember who. It as was not bad price. Approx. GBP 20,000 excl. engines.

I own an original P23 built by Steve, and I can assure everybody that the rough water capabilities of this boat are just amazing. It was never a problem for me to go the same speeds as much bigger offshore boats (up to 30 feet). The boat is absolutely safe and predictable in rougher conditions.
I don't know how the P23 would react if there are two engines at the back. But I'm pretty sure that the boat would handle this power very well with a water ballast tank or a front fuel tank. It would be a pleasure for me to drive such a bullet...

Officially, the P23 has a length of 6,90m. When I measured the length of the boat (like a F2 waterskiracing boat), the P23 was approximately 6,75m.

Hi ,like john F ,says the P23 out performs the 25 in the rough i can just talk with a single engine on it though, and it went like fook with BIG hp on the back ,i can also say that with a 200hp it was borringish. , i have to say its the model i most liked on Ph.

Hi Toffen, you have probably seen this add
http://www.finn.no/finn/boat/object?finnkode=19149627, I have seen this boat some years while it was stored, I am certain it's a 23. As far as I can recall it had no noch. I remember another 23` raced in the early 80's with two Mariners, I`ll make some phone calls I know the first owner in Norway)and see if I can locate it, I have a slight idea where I can find it and take some pics. Regards Lyder
