Poole Bay Race
So did anyone else go and spectate ? Im hoping so as the sport needs as much coverage as possible to survive.
I found it very enjoyable day out and hopefully will be on again next year.

Went to the pits at Salterns on Sat and watched from the cliffs Sunday . Great to have it back in Poole , I miss the Cancer Research and Needles races.
As for not knowing it was on I'm not surprised , I also went to Poole boat show on Sat and maybe there was a poster for it somewhere but I didn't see it , and I was looking ! A perfect place to advertise and promote.
Still great to see back in Poole , hopefully next year bigger and better, quite fancy dusting off my orange helmet !!

Hi All,
Offshore events are now sanctioned by UKOPRA and you can keep up to speed with calendar etc on their web page.
UKOPRA
They tend to use facebook as a medium to promote their events which has resulted in attracting both national and international engagement via peer sharing.
Also keep up with powerboatracingworld.com and raceboatinternational.com for all related press releases.
Anyone interested in dusting off equipment just drop a line to info@ukopra.co.uk and they will help you out.

I've been a fan of powerboat racing for nearly 40 years as a spectator and competitor but it does seem sometimes to be a closely guarded secret . It is great to see a resurgence in racing but as I put in my last reply as an example a few posters / banners at Poole boat show and the local marinas might have been a good idea to help promote this fantastic sport and possibly bring new people in . I don't think it was mentioned on here even . Just my humble opinion

I have already e mailed the relevant parties to advise on this.
Hopefully next year will see some improvements and decent promotion to go with it.
I was on Boscombe Pier and it was really quite good as a spectator. With a decent pair of binoculars you could see a lot of the racing.

I was between Boscombe snd Southborne on the cliff top and yes, it was great , sight and sound would just like more people to experience it , not just find it by chance like Graham ( a performance boater ) on here .
Regards

Ooh eer , high horse !! Yes. a mailshot to every house in the UK would be perfect thank you. Well done
you seem to be missing the point , all I said was a poster or two at the Poole boat show would've perhaps been a good idea as people were in the vicinity .
Not trying to criticise in the least, as I said it's great to see powerboats back in Poole.

Warhorse and Blastoff were going into the Hamble from Southampton Water on the friday, presumably for fuel, when we were exiting the river....they came charging down before they turned and slowed, Warhorse looked amazingly fast (and loud)...Blastoff seemed to have a lot of black smoke at slow speed entering the speed limit area....nice to see them both though....

Ha ha , I think that hearing aid needs a new battery !
But I wouldn't mind going round and putting a poster or two up next year to help promote if it's on again . Would really like to get my arse in gear and compete.
As for the previous comment re Facebook I've asked several people , male and female, young and old and none of them knew about the series so that comment doesn't stack up.You have to know where to look on FB so looks like there will be a lot of work for Royal Mail !!

All the aforementioned areas where it was promoted is fine except I came down from Surrey so none of them would have been any use.
My first post was not to criticize, far from it ! I really enjoyed it and thought a couple of ideas would maybe help in the future.
I cant make Falmouth, but really looking forward to CTC
Bring it on.

Yeah I know that, but it was obviously a concern cos one of the crew got out to have a look.....
