must have been the week for dumping people in drink. my mate chucked 2 people off his rib, on 2 occasions in one day!! one with 3 broken ribs!! seems to have shaken both dudes up enough to not get on a boat again!!!

How did the deaths occur at yarmouth, makes me think about the prop or water impact!!

Dem wibs is dangerous tings!

I've always said, with a rib, you're 'on it', rather than 'in it', and it don't feel safe!

I think they should be banned!....especially the ilegal splashes

'Up the hardboat'!!!

The R1 RIB is the one where you were really sitting in it - had the full deck / cockpit arrangement!

Apparently the owner turned the boat over last year in the same area - but was OK on that occasion.

It was the R1 RIB built by Mark Pascoe using the Bakdraft hull. Pete and Dave raced it to start with - then some tosser called Dominic somthing raced it (using one of my props which he refused to return).

Gone through a few owners since.

Think it was the first boat to race an XS200 in this country as well.

Ah yes, it was built new for Dominic. wound into him by thighona, and well beyond his 'real' budget.

The deck was from the ill fated V V-23.

Richard Bendy owned it at one point too..

didn't Mark drive it in the CTC one year?

I think we should all lobby the RYA to ban RIBs based on health and safety grounds and the Trade Description Act in that they describe themselves as boat when in fact they are only half boat half fender, could probably find grounds for misrepresentation as well.

Is this worthy of a BM poll?

I think we should be sensitive to the fact that someone who is likely a friend of members of this forum, died.

Whilst I agree in principle, I hope that if something were to happen to me, people would be able to look on the funny side, as wearing a black arm band, wouldn't bring me back.

Obviously, the entire membership of RIBnet would throw a party, though it clearly wouldn't be a celebration of my life, rather a celebration of my death

Chin up.
