Paul Brooks in the P18 with 2.5 EFI looked bloody amazing next to them.
Quite hilarious too that Pete Smith won the race in his 90mph Wildcat. He did fall out too but that was before the race started.
I had to throw in something about circuit racing. Us guys are a bit under represented on here.

Boring at 70mph offshore your having a laugh, especially when u hit massive wake, it certainly keeps you on your toes

With fear of retaliation from JF - The wrong type of water for a V24. It sits too deep and does not get any airation or something. And pub talk or not, the V24 is sluggish in fresh water....

Boring at 70mph on Windermere. Certainly shown up by our boys anyway. And as verytricky said probably not even 70.
70 on Windermere was obviously too much for them with them turning upside down anyway, i'd hate to see an offshore race. I think the Sun would be great sponsors for them like when they sponsored the underneath of Audley Harrisons boxing shoes! Lol.
Tricky your absolutely right, fresh water is too sticky for those V24 boys. Made great noises and looked great, not like those overweight honda's.

One of those very accurate PRC timing devices no doubt.
Not knocking Honda they created a race series for a utility engine, brill marketing really was, proving very successful. 150's are much better than the 225s.
Now can you intermix classes, bit like inbreeding, Take a 150 boat and fit a 225 and run that against the sport racer,

a 150 with a 225 engine on the back would be mental, but i think it is good as it is no need for change

V24 Racing
I know its a bit late for this section but why did the uk allow all their V24 boats to go to Sweden etc when now the UIM is insisting on canopies for 3C after all the V24 apart from being an inboard it had everything that 3C is going to have to have. At least you knew the cost of a V24 no one has even decided on a specific spec and cost of a canopy for an existing 3c. I have been gone a long time and it seems rather silly to let all the boats go and still not know what the true cost of a winning 3C boat will be. Just an observation and no doubt will hopefully bring out some serious info to go with the regular "Jokers"
Dave N For too long obviously
ps has anyone else thought that the RYA could represent Powerboat Racing better and more current.

Who would stop the boats leaving the country? If nobody here wants them who would buy them?

V24 Boats
Always one like "HE with the biggest toy always wins - as a constructive comment that was as good as saying if you want excitement go class one look at the POll somebody like the bulk wanted them. If thats the best answer you can give please don't answer any sensible question I put on this Website

I'm confused... Why resurrect a 3 year old topic with an irrelevant question, then snap at someone that answers it?!
3C and V24 are completely different classes. Yes the Ocke B23 and V24 share very similar (maybe identical?) running surfaces and wings, but the boats and the way they are rigged and driven are totally different. Classes come and go with demand, classes die out for various reasons. I'd love to see the old 3D make a comeback but that's never gonna happen. If someone wants to sell a boat and quit a class nobody can stop them, and nobody can insist the boat stays in the UK! If I wanted to sell my boat, and nobody on Guernsey wanted it, then I'd look to mainland and Europe... just so happens that a few Scandinavians seemed to take a fancy to V24s? To say that keeping the V24s in the UK is an alternative to 3C is pretty ridiculous, so it's unfair to have a go at Cookee for giving a perfectly reasonable and correct answer. Most of your last post doesn't even make sense...

Dave - I'm sure you had great motives behind posting what you did, but all the regulars (I see you're new here) here know who I am - I'm called Cookee to may face by most and if you look at my profile I also support Boatmad by advertising.
As for my reply - it seems that Paul and possibly others) understands my post but it's clear you don't want to!

I spent a lot of years sat in a 3C Batboat, and one season in a V24 with MB in the middle of it. The race speeds went up alot during that time from low 70s when I started to low to mid 80s when I stopped...now Scotty has his B23 kicking on a lot faster.......
The V24s are a great boat and in the last few years, without Big Cliff and Terry, Mark Brewster and Lance we would have lost the whole lot by now. I've been lucky enough to get in these things without having to own one, hoping it wont turn into an expensive flower pot. You cant blame people who need or want to sell them letting boats go to whoever can afford them. We would all like to see boats stay in the uk, but its not always possible.
Like Paul E I would have liked to progressed from 3B to 3C to 3D, but sadly we lost that class, which was awesome to see.

Nothing wrong in asking a question, what can you bring to the party?
Grammar, Spelling and punctuation in your reply would be appreciated.

V24 Future
I also was a great fan of 3D and had Clarke racing staying at my home along with Chev enginestheir boat also the two girls ( Whose Names I can't remember) who raced the Cat - That was when they raced at New Brighton - If I remember rightly it was the Toleman Twins who won in their class 1 Cat with 2 Chev Engines - I agree that V24 is an old but bold class But I wonder how much C56 the 3c with canopy would compare in price.

The Toleman Twins raced in Class 2.
Not hard to get grammar, spelling, punctuation and history sorted out.
