Coniston is on in November it takes real balls to go that fast. Have you got them or the equipment to beat 97.64 mph ?

Looks like we'll never find out unless you've got a race licence thanks to the RYA's change of rules that doesn't allow day licences.

Thats right roofer,
Strange thing is they let us go 180 miles to Torquay and back in a gale force 6 on an event licence and Coniston is 1 k there and the same back and the biggest wave there last year i saw was about 3.25 inches high ,
Let me think why the sport is not getting the numbers it once did.
Again only my thoughts.

Accidents happen every year at records week which is to be expected when you are pushing man and machine to there limits and beyond.

I wonder if certain people are using Marks accident as an excuse to get rid of the competition ? I mean people who have been racing for years and consider themselves to be experts getting beat by unknowns. It must hurt there pride must it not ?

Oh I forgot powerboat racers are a lovely caring bunch of people who would never try and get people banned or change the rules to suit them.

I wonder how many competitors and spectators wont be going to Coniston this year because of the rule changes.

I don't think that's fair.

You might have got a few bruises in the CTC, or even ended up getting wet, but running 100+ on Coniston on an ironing board if far more likely to kill you (and ruin the sport even more), especially if you haven't got a scooby doo what you're doing.

To be fair, I think the event licence rule for CTC should probably require a medical, no doubt I'll get shot down for saying that, but in the scheme of things, it's hardly a large cost, or unaceptable amount of grief is it? Mebbe even Dr Vadas could do meds at Cowes for those needing em.

I personally think it's a good move, and in the bigger picture, might save the likes of Coniston for future records. Long may records week live.

I honestly think you're drifting into the realms of fantasy now.

If Records week were my event, I would want to protect it. If that means excluding people without any experience / sense, so be it. The net won't always catch the right people, but you'd have to try / show willing. The days of just doing what you want with dangerous events as an organiser have long gone.

If this Mark character is so determined to run, I'd suggest finding a body of suitable water, hire / buy a radar gun or suitable timing gear, and make an exciting video of the run and slap it on youtube. Everyone will still get to see him and his ego can be suitably massaged. If he fkks up, it'll still make a good youtube vid, without ruining Records Week.

Which parts fantasy ? My Coniston theory or my theory that race classes are built around certain peoples boats ??

By the way my fantasy's are usually about the opposite sex not powerboats.

It must be great to be able to alter or add to a post when it suits.... By the way Mark had no intention of going to Coniston his boat was never going to be ready.

You get 1 hour to edit / add to posts, is that not long enough?

It was put back up to an hour some time ago, after I got shot of that idiot Pash1.

Who on the committees are competition after all they make the rules. I liked records week because it always was sort of a run what you brung deal but things change. All I know is our plans have been right royally cocked up by the rule changes so I guess I'll have to go and see all these unknowns blow everybody off the water once they've bought a license. You have had some tasty stuff over the years and seem experienced fancy having a go??

you may have a talking to from the same guy i did a few weeks agao. i actually phoned wapping station to find out the facts.
but then i got the whole speed limit thing too. he did forget to mention that it was mainly aimed at the passenger cats. (what i was told on the phone)
but all the other guys were fine.

i guess there is the element of danger with people who just get a boat and go play dangerously though.

All the best
Paul

Please note !! The Licence theory is based on the Bylaw that is only lifted for "National" or "World" speed records. Therefore you must hold a National or International Licence !! Obvious really if you think about it !! Bear in mind that you can also get a National licence at a very reduced cost (not much more than an event one) providing you qualify to hold one.
