CBIII's boat 'Skadoo' was either dark blue or purple but I think it was a 41.

'Skadoo' was indeed a 41, and was a garstly metalic purple fading through to white i think. I think it had a pair of 750's in it, on #6's.

That boat got (alegedly) converted to run on LPG. Charlie bought a pair of obscure motors, second hand in the states, and the whole thing was a bit of a waste of time. It was also re-painted white whilst at Vulture Ventures. Dunno where it is now, last heard it was in Windsor,, but dunno if that was correct.

'CB-III' was a dark (midnight) blue 46, he didn't seem to use it much.

PJC would know all this stuff for sure.

Errr, I think it is. PJC on this site is a bit of an authority on Cougars as I think he was actually born in the workshop, he will I'm sure fill us in when he sees this thread.

As I understood it, Romans Sabre, as it was originaly named, was the first ali cat built by the firm, but I could be talking bollox.

It really is a pile of old junk though. I think it's had it's tunnel roof/sponson interface join re-welded about 500 times.

It was used for a few years at my local yard as a powerboat experience boat, with a pair of big block motors (502s) on TRS's ...did about 35mph!

Yep its the old Romans Sabre, designed by Cougar but built by Simms on the IoW, it was lengthened in 1989/90s when the canopy was fitted.

Seems a great pity that a pile of junk makes it this far without going to the happy aluminium melting yard in the sky, but many great old boats did not make it like Debenhams, the legend, and no doubt many other Cougar and CUV's from the 70/80's

I don't remember the cockpit canopy being like that when it was Marston Hotels in 91, it may however be the angle that the picture is taken at. I seem to remember that it was more like the cockpit on Giesse.
