Racing classes??

iv been trying to get my head round this for some time now but need it all clearing up.
what are the major racing classes that are still active?
i can spot a class 1 and class 3 2L boat, but is there a class 2? and are the other class 3s still active eg. 1.3, 4 & 6 litre ect??
then there are of course the off shoots. OCR, Honda, P1 ect.
Just interested to know whats out there, as i cant find any info on anything but honda, P1 and class one!!
cheers

Nationally Class 1, 2, 3D and 3B are no more. There are moves afoot to "reboot" 3B after the RYA killed it off back in 2003.

Class 3C is still running but with a small field, perhaps the World Championships to be held in Guernsey in September will stimulate interest.

The international picture is however brighter. The Scandinavian countries have healthy 3B and 3C fleets, 3S is very popular in the middle east.

Class 1 is racing with about 10 boats, and class 2 seems to have gone.

Pro V I believe was the evolutionary answer to Class 2 however with that now finished it appears some of the Mono's were to be re-engined with single Merc 850hp engines to race as a support series to the 10 or so Class 1 boats racing around the world, however I am not certain it ever got off the ground

Hotboats is still a National Class!!

It would be interesting to see if there are a few boats that can take part. I believe ( may be wrong, been wrong before ) that there were a few rule changes to try make it simpler for 2008.
