Ran good with steps

For all those negative comments on the phantom with steps I would just like to let you kno that it ran pretty good with the steps. and this isnt just my opinion. The only thing i need to do is some prop work to increase the rpms. @ its peak in slight rough it was looking about 5500-5600 with a 90 yammi. Remeber this???

Take into effect that this motor is COMPLETELY stock because we are not allowed to modify it pretty much @ all.

GPS'd, I wouldn't expect to go over 60mph. I was always told the Bermudian P16's ran better with the smaller 70hp motors (modded of course) and with them, on GPS, 58mph was the fastest I've heard. The 90s never ran as good as the smaller/lighter 70s. The 66mph somebody else posted a while back just isn't true and his prop setup is waaaay off. Get a GPS in the boat and see what speeds you're hitting right now...my guess is if your gauge says low 50s you will be lucky do doing a true 50. But that's just IMO.

And do you happen to know who owns the baby blue P16 that raced a few years ago? I really want to buy it and if I can find the owner I'll make an offer asap and hopefully be racing against you next season...

Ok but from a test run I believe I was doin a steady 55mph. I'll get a gauge so I can measure it correctly and no I don't know who owned the other p16 but I can ask around and let you know. It'll be good to have some competition in my class.

Plz do, I've asked around myself and think it's being kept behind Maxi-Mart in Somerset. If I ever do get it, I'll be going the modded 70 route. With the 90 in A-class, what do the rules allow you to change? And yeah, when you get a chance, run it with GPS and post the speed...would be interesting to know what it's hitting.

U can't really touch a 90 hp motor in a class. Just tune it in and do a lot of prop work. Cannot touch anything on the powerhead. A big part that I seemed to help was weight distribution throughout the boat. Like for me more weight in the back tends to make ot run smoother being as I have the steps.

I believe Macolm Hughes holds a UK National Superclubman record of 67.10 mph with a non-stepped 16' phantom with a yam 90 set on Coniston 2005 reaching 67.479 mph on the return kilometer.
