Red Jet tale

In the recent bad weather, this appeared on one of the websites.

Darren Vaughan said the 11.45 am Red Jet had just left Cowes when he heard a huge bang as the side opening door blew open and glass shattered everywhere.
The vessel stopped for about ten minutes as Red Funnel staff attempted to shut the door, when two crew members held a colleague out of the door as he tried to get hold of it.
The boat was rocking because it was so rough and they were holding on to this guy,who was wearing no lifejacket or harness as he tried to reach the door.
Darren said the crew intially ignored cries from another passenger,a master mariner, who shouted to them to use a lifejacket and a harness.
Eventually they decided to use the harness but they had to read the instructions first - it was a complete farce.
The boat resumed it`s journey at slow speed to avoid wash coming through the broken window.
All we were told was that we couldn`t take any photos, said Darren.
It appeared the locking system had disengaged, resulting in the door being thrown open.

So next time a joUrney to the Cowes bash is undertaken,no merry quips,as you may get keel hauled past the waterjet intakes.

This is a long shot Andy, but would your partner in crime be Lee Furmidge. We used to call him a Damon Hill lookalike much to his annoyance.Difficult to tell from the pic.
