Don't know about you Bandit but it only happens when I'm in really heavy sea and stop with the nose into the waves. Obviously the bowlift isn't effective when not underway.

Worst part is that when it happens you seem to get an age of seeing the water collect then wallow before it dumps. But you know there's nowhere to hide so you just have to grin and bear it.

Anyway hows yours at the moment. I've got mine totally in bits, rewired throughout new steering, new controls. Just got to put new heads on engine and plant that back in, new carpet to lay, gauges and switch panels to fit and fit the new upholstery. then I can get a bit time on gelcoat repairs here and there. So about 5 weeks before I'm out again.

Its been sitting outside my bedroom window under a car canopy in my back garden. Looking forward to the new season. will be back in the water end of April. I need to prop test as i only borrowed some props last year. Anyone got any idea what props i should use or try out, i would be most grateful.
Also i want to put the mods to the transom to the test.
Good luck with you rebuild.
Do you ever intend going to the solent with yours?

We normally go down to Poole once a year and camp with four or five other boats, but left it last year and cruised up the east coast instead. Last time I went over to the solent was about four years ago and ended up very p*ssed in Saltys.

As for Props, I went over last year to the new maximus from a bravo 4 and previous to that a straight three blader. Other than engine revs at cruise and pull out I've not noticed much difference with bow or stern lift which is a bit surprising to say the least. The five blade does give a better hold in the turns and on re entry but apart from that it doesn't seem woryh me messing about.

I know your a different kettle with the outboards but I'd still be interested to see what difference a high rake prop makes.

I've went right over her in the summer and can answer most questions as I spent a good hour with the broker digging out what he had.

Trailer is six wheel and braked, in general good condition.

He spent a good lump of money having one of the engines rebuilt but never touched the other which didn't seem the most intelligent to me. For the money he spent he could have had a pair of new longblocks.

One drive has had money spent on it. Other than that it all seemed to be paint and general maintenance money.

It needs a couple of grand throwing at upholstery etc but apart from that it's very clean. The downside for me was I thought I was looking at a grey boat that turned out to be lashings of silver metalflake that would look right on a TVR but not a classic powerboat fur gods sake.

Hmm. I wouldn't want to look like the Pimp of Portrush. Its brilliant you've given it a good going over. It would cost me about £200 to go over for the day to do likewise. What about the interior and amenities? Everything working? I have a missus and three nippers to stow. Is it big enough for us all to kip in bags? We'd want to do a bit of everything (cruise, ski, tow, socialise). Would it be one you would choose for that? Nothing mad weather wise but seas can spring up quickly on the north coast.
It seems overpriced to me. As you say I'd rather he'd got the mechanicals 101% and left it looking a bit grubby.
I'd value your opinion.

Pizza,

I stuck a bid of 20k on it in June and he didn't bite. From what I understand it's been sitting there for best part of two years now with no takers.

Everything seems in one piece with the exception of the cabin sliding door. That's got a broken corner off the curved perspex. An easy fix though for someone with a bit of nouse.

Bravo 1 drives so you shouldn't go too far wrong there and the 454's shouldn't be too much grief as long as you're not giving them stick continually. If you're handy with spanners they're dead easy to work on yourself and parts are easy and cheap (For Marine) to come by.

Stainless props which have been antifouled. Not sure what thats about.

Bennet tabs which are a godsend on this type of rig. Seem to remember them as dual ram but not sure now.

Shower to transom has fitting on Bathing platform but no hose. I assume that's there somewhere.

It's got a shorepower fitting but I don't think that's any more than a charger.

Cabin will give you enough room for the nippers as long as they aren't too big. I sleep a whole family of five on the san marino which is a little tight but do-able.

Fridge etc looked fine. Alcohol burner as a stove which I personally would dump and use the camping gaz burners that you can get for £15 and £1 a cartridge. They seem to do better than any boat cooker I've seen.

I'm told that everything is working fine but the batteries were obviously dead as a dodo when I went over so couldn't check wiring through. No reason to believe that it wasn't though. I guess if you do a deal you could ask that it's put back in the water and running.

Canopy is a little caravan like but very spacious so does it matter what it looks like.

A couple of nicks in the hull here and there but no more than I'd expect.

Back cushions will probably need replacing but the front seats are in one piece which is where the money is.

Dashboard is looking a little dated now but that didn't bother me as I'd quite enjoy bringing that up to date. No nav but I seem to remember there is a vhf.

If it's anything like my san marino, you won't be using this much for skiing other than a straight tow behind the boat but should be ok to tow the kids around off plane. They need about 20 - 25 knots to get up on the plane and stay there comfortably which can be a bit quick with a huge wake.

Trailer looked more than serviceable but I would guess the brakes / bearings need looking at.

This is a bastard great lump to tow around, nothing less than a range rover will touch it I wouldn't think. All up weight must be getting on for 4 1/2 tonnes with the trailer.

All in all I wouldn't have hesitated at £20k but I felt it wasn't worth it for what he's asking. Why not have a straight word with Medway Bridge before you go down and ask him what he'd take now? Be prepared for a little tidying for the first season and next winter get stuck in and you'll have a really nice boat that looks the part. It'll look even better if you have Peter Stringfellow looks as that'll match the paint job!

I would have to get myself a sparkly thong. Or just the wife's again. Thanks for taking the trouble to write that. It couldn't be more useful. This is the type of boat that I want. I might just give Medway another call. The guy doesn't seem desperate though (not after 2 years anyway!) There are Formula's around for that kind of money too. I have been speaking to Mark at Oceanpowerboats and there are some coming out of winterisation soon. I'm not in a great hurry but something for this season would be nice. Thanks again.

How the hell can a San Marino sleep a family of 5?

I'd put up with 5 stringfellow girls at a Push.

So, the one in Medway at 25k is like an 80's wine bar.

The one in Spain at 17k has a faded gelcoat and "Tight Engine" apparently.

And the one in Sweden at 18.5k has had the faded gelcoat painted and has taken on water due to a failed hose in the engine compartment, requiring new alternators and starters etc on two engines. It also has faded interior.

So there you have it, three classic boats all requiring the right type of owner to bring them up to standard and in two cases, to bring them home.

2 young girls in cabin with me and the 16 year old lad gets slung on the back seat or sunpad whichever he prefers.

As I say tight but doable

Monza Update:

The one in Spain has just been sold after a complicated negotiation that involved the owner replacing an engine and other bits and bobs. Its apparently off to Holland.

I have been speaking to the owner of the other red Monza in Sweden and trying to arrange a Marine Survey on it.

The "Stringfellows" one is still currently for sale.

Question

Revenger Monza.

Apparently Revenger only made 5 of these boats due to the fact that the build quality and fittings made them more expensive than the "Imports" of the time.

As i am seriously interested in purchasing one, i have located 4 out of the original 5 but would like to locate the 5th one if possible as i would like to purchase the best example available.

The boats that i know of are:

1. White with silver, red & black stripe - UK
2. White with Red side - Spain but moving to Holland
3. White with Red side - Sweden
4. White with Blue side - Switzerland.

Does anyone know where the 5th one might be?
