the boat looks awesome as is james, the colours do suite the boat, i would just have a white oval on the sides near the front, with some race numbers on, and leave it at that, thats just boring old me good luck

HI James i know the blower motor on your screen pic is going in the boat did that motor come out of a boat and did you get your carb sorted? my last 2 boats both ran blowers and i never had any problems at all with the blowers . I have a good book on blowers yours if you want it i can send it to you good luck with the build i can feel your bravo1 trembling from here paul ps see you on G/week

Thanks again everyone, I'm over the moon with her! I've got the graphics drawn up now but they're just being put on with vinyl for now so I can change them about if I want to.

Paul, plan is to put the blower on, gonna run with the single 1000cfm for now as probably not gonna race her till next year. There's just one issue.
Turns out my block was an injection one with an eagle crank and hi-comp pistons. As a result I'm very tempted to stick to N/A power rather than having to start changing pistons, should be able to get 500hp ish, which would give the drive a much easier time and save fuel. That said, I just want the blower on there so badly to really finish her off nicely!! Decisions decisions...

Hi James, damn she's looking great! A far cry from what was.
I can understand you wanting to go over the top, but going N/A first has some benefits - it gives you a chance to get used to the hull and flush out any bugs with the engine, drive and systems. Then you have another rush to look forward to - when you put the hammer down.

Ha ha, well as tempting as it was to paint the red stripe back on, I just about managed to resist!!

Sadly it looks like she's not gonna be getting the blower, no reasonably priced way of getting the comperssion down on the 502

On the bright side, I'll build a kick-ass N/A motor!!

Ha ha, it's all very confusuing deciding what to do, but I must admit my sensible side is screaming at me not to fit the blower so it's more reliable! I wish I had a standard motor now really so I could fit into a Marathon class!

Wouldn't mind a nice 28... When funds allow!

Hi james i ran 8.50 to 1 with 5 pounds boost no intercooler with prob the worst blower for generating heat with no problem, . i am not sure but the blower in your pic looks like a 250? and will be turning much slower than mine was to make 4/5 pounds = less heat plus you have that luvly cooler got to be worth a point i say you will end up with a nice docile boat at cruise and lots of grunt when you need it . I have run much higher com 9.5 , with 8 psi but had coolers and( centrifugal )blower = less heat,had to get the dictionary for that one , all though this was in a car and would be under a lot less constent stress , Bravo 1 might not agree with me

Yeah see this is the thing, I'm not sure if what works on a car will work on a boat.

As I understand it, effective C/R has to be below 12:1 for pump gas. With a starting point of 8.81:1, this equates to absolutely no more than 4psi boost, and to me that doesn't seem like it's worth the potential aggro?

Considering that I'm only after 600hp absolute tops for now, I'm thinking it's just going to be easier to go with building a N/A motor? Aside from the potential of blowing it up, my drive would live much longer!

Paul, yeah, it's a 250 with a superchiller.

The 8.5 to 1 boost 5psi no cooler was in chevy powerd boat good luck with wot ever you do James i will let you know how my bravos turn out when i get them back from mr gadgets

Boat,s looking awsome James well done a trully epic effort.On the supercharger I would say the motor would definatly be safe around 6-7psi boost and possible a pound or two more with care on the final setup this will give loads more power and works as well as a low comp motor running 9-10 pound boost ,none of this will help if you think the drive,s going to go crunch,but it will all look so nuts with the charger poking out the top and there is nothing like the surge of power from blown motors to stretch your smile from ear to ear . GO BLOWN

James knows my view on this.

Do whatever he fancies - blown, turboed, nitrous, whatever.
But make sure whatever path he follows, do it properly and don't cut corners on the motor build.

That means potentially (but not necessarily) less hp on a NA motor, but spending the money where needed to make sure it's robust and reliable - spend the money on the "hard" parts. Better that than doing a budget blown build and ending up with a self disassembling engine.

I sincerely hope I am capable of taking my own advice.

In my opinion it actually makes the hull look like a much later design.
Not sure about graphics mind......I think they give it a more classic look.
But, I guess it depends what you're looking for, right!
