Well you definately couldn't stand in the cabin!! If i sit, my head's about 2" from the ceiling, so about a metre I guess? I'll measure it properly next time i'm up there. It's a crawl in cuddy but I'd happily spend a night in there!

I had blow job (I did take the name off) for a few years from aprox 2003 to 2007 I think. I bought her from Steve Dawkings, the engine was knocking and I did a lot of work on the engine, leg, new (to me) trailer, new cover and a new bulk head. Then I got married and had to sell her. I think it ended up on the Isle of Sheppey. It is my all time favourite "affordable" boat and I would love to get hold of one again when I have the cash. I always wanted to put a high out put big block in so will be reading this with interest.

I'm assuming "Blow Job" did have a blower at one point, or was the name just a "fun" metaphor?

Learnt a new lesson this week, don't pressurise your fuel tank with a 10bar supply to pump the fuel out!
I needed to empty the tank in order to remove it, and after 30 mins with a primer bulb i was a touch bored. That was when the idea came to me!
I stood on the tank and connected the air line to the vent on the theory that the air pressure would obviously force the fuel out of the line into the waiting tank. Unfortunately I was being a bit thick that day and I didn't notice that the tank was starting to go a touch circular. Next thing I know there's a real stench of fuel.
I stopped and just about managed to lift the tank up to check underneath... I was a touch shocked to see about 20 litres of fuel in my bilge - the tank had burst!
After much cursing, I managed to get the tank upright to stop it leaking and continued with the same method to remove the rest of the fuel, then removed the tank.
On the bright side, when I inspected it I found that there was a really thin spot due to corrosion on the inside (it'd seem) which is where it burst. Had this not happened I probably would've been out on the water when i found this!
Anyhoo, lesson learnt, I wouldn't try this yourselves kids!!

Onwards and upwards...
Well it all went uphill from there... After 2 hours of soaking up petrol!
At least the tank was out now and I could get a really good look at the inside of the hull. Didn't look too bad under there, if a little dirty!
I'd been doing a little bit every morning before work too, so one side of the boat is now sticker free, this took hours!!! Looks a lot better now, can't wait to get her rubbed down and polished up!

Having got the tank out, I still needed to find out what was causing the cracks on the outside of the hull. This meant cutting the rest of floor out, it was soggy anyhoo!
I'd been unsure about the current rear seat as it was so flimsy. It was cut in three to allow the tank to be fitted and just really wasn't up the the job in my opinion. That was coming out too. I'll be building a new rear seat to my spec which will be attached to the floor.
In order to get the floor out, i also had to remove most of the woodwork from under the dash, I'll be ripping the rest of this out later anyhoo as I don't fit in a comfortable driving position!

What's the crack??
Going back to those stress cracks... I found out that if i levered the stringers around, the cracks flexed and wetness bubbled out, not good! Having got the floor out, it's pretty easy to see the stringers really aren't great. They've started to come apart, especially at the (rather flimsy) join in the middle. The tank was able to move about by a good couple of inches, so it'd seem that a lifetime of it slamming into them has wrecked 'em a touch and caused the cracking in the hull.
I'll be cutting the stringers out and replacing them. At the same time I'll re-laminate & gel the hull as required inside and out, then get a tank made which actually fits, that should see the end of that problem, looks like i caught it just in time!

good work mate. my ring 21 needed a new floor in it and when the floor was ripped up the stringers were all fecked too so they got replaced.
having a nice new strong floor in the boat makes it feel really good when driving it, you will notice the difference

Nope, just inside directly below the stringers. I could imagine they'd let water in if left unattended though. Seems it's due to poor stringers, poor thin glassing and an ill fitting fuel tank in my case. I'm suprised it never flew out though the hull!! It'll all be resolved as part of the build though!

I am sure that boat (revenger) now resides at AYC compound.

Well, it's been pretty quiet on this thread for a while. I've been really busy with work, Mia and a million other things, so haven't really had a chance to get anything done on the revenger.
Chanced across a friend on xmas eve who came down to have a look at her for me to give me an idea of what I've got ahead of me...
Bad news is I've decided to quit with the current hull. She's a lovely boat, but I've decided there's just too much for me to do that I'm not sure about doing, and don't have the time for. Basically the stringers need replacing from the engine bulkhead forward and she needs some extra bracing built in at the same time too really due to being such a light built hull.
Great for someone who wants to put the work in, but I just don't have the time right now.
I'm gonna be stripping off all the bits I can use and selling the hull on (contact me if interested) and then looking for another hull around 25ft, which needs less work, to put all my gear and engine in. Ideal would be another revenger or a Phantom 25, but I'd consider most options, please get in touch if you know of anything.
Looks like this coming season will be out for me now, but hoping to have something built by the 2011 season
Cheers, James

a bit of superglue/duct-tape and she'll be fine.
What is it with you and boats anyway? It's a shame, I was really interested in seeing how she went. Thought it was a really nice shaped hull.

Larby why not repair the hull and forget the respray etc and run it with what you have? Alternatively you could buy my ring to race! It will cross the finish line

Paul, you're quite right. The engine is currently shafted and at tubby's. He's wanting more than i wanna pay, I looked into it back before i got the revenger.
As i just mentioned in the BJ thread i really can't decide what to do. It's got nothing to do with a respray, I'd decided long ago to stick with gelcoat, that's a minor little detail, it's the work needed to make her good/safe for racing again. I'm not the kinda guy to just hash something together and hope for the best, it's got to be right.
I really can't decide though, I'm really really tempted to just do whatever it takes to restore her. I really like her and she's a bit different, drives beautifully too.
James
