Richard Carr - XCAT

Morning everyone,

Just thought I would start a thread to see what everyone's thoughts were on powerboat racing this year.

For me, last year was a let down, but in 2015 the Qatar Cup and more recently the XCAT Series has breathed new life into the sport.

Richard Carr Racing's Blog | Richard Carr Racing.

Thanks,

Richard

x-cats

Love the x-cats, they have quite a large fleet and others on a waiting list to join i here, its great that the yanks have the same class over there as well, all i need is someone with a spare £150,000 or so and i would go back out there and race that class again.

I agree, the XCATS have certainly provided some decent entertainment in the first few rounds. Good to see a few different teams challenging at the front too. I hope to get back involved at some point, Steve's OPGP is certainly an interesting venture.

If I had the money I'd be playing in an X-Cat for sure!

Love the whole concept of the class - and must be one of the few types of craft racing that is fairly worldwide - if racing under different guises in different countries.

Only thing I'm not so keen on is some of the courses being too short and sheltered - but that is probably just my offshore origins coming through.

Then would ideally see more different designs racing - in an ideal world including one of my own. Certainly a concept I have been looking at and maybe will have time to explore further.......

I think it shows the diversity of powerboat racing at the moment. It has come along way since the early 90s. It's good to see it so popular in places like Qatar and China. To me, it has the same global appeal as F1
