Ring 20 Merc 200hp - How should it perform?

I am hoping that someone out there can give me the benefit of their experience and tell me what speed I should be capable of getting out of a Ring 20 with 200hp Merc. No jacking plate; standard leg.
Am I being over optimistic to expect 70mph ?
Thanks...

Do you know what prop, revs, engine height and if there was any setback at all?

You should be able to do 70 mph. I have my target speed set to 70 knots with my Ring 21 225 Opti. Top speed this far is 75 mph.

This season the engine will sit a bit higher, new hydraulic steering, foot throttle and hopefully a lift.

My 21 is a handful at speeds over 55 mph.

i think you could come up one hole, that looks a bit deep, this would have torque problems and also the slightest wave or wash will send the nose up in the air, IMHO of course,
But again props and set up are the key

You are all doing a good job of putting me off wanting to go fast in the Ring 20.

My last 2 boats have been rock solid sterndrive boats - one topping out at 70 MPH and the other 55.

For a chine happy boat, I have to go back to a Marshan 17 that I had until around 20 years ago, and I remember that half the fun was taming it flat out.
I hope I haven't lost my reactions or bottle!

i think it is more than possible but props will be key, also weight, the lighter you are the better, what props and rpm are you spinning?

Prop was a 23p 3 blade Laser or Trophy.revs were about 5900rpmthe engine height is the same as the pics of the Ring in this trend. had no set back, engine was sat on the tansome.
The boat was set up for playing.
Could of got more speed with different props and lifters but i was well happy with that.
The acceleration was awesome

My best speeds were with a 24" chopper on a 2.4 200, and a 23" laser on a 2.5 200.

Well said John. I'm getting 65ish at the mo with a 2.4 bp. With fuel tank moved and boat set up better, I'm hoping for 71/72.

As for handling and chine walking.....pffffft! I've not had any probs whatsoever.

Like i said it was set up for playing.
The fuel tank was moved to the bow to keep it down, had bench seat, ancor and lots of extra weight in the boat most of the time.
