scorp stepped hull owner. slipstream??

saw a scorpion stepped hull rib down lymington couple of weeks ago, i believe its owned by family member of will nurse?? Was the de-laminated one.

Anyway the guy tows it with a toyota supra and i cant find any tow data for it, so wondered if it was a home made towbar and if so the legalities of it!!!

I Looked at nice car other day but cant find any tow data for it so presumed it would be illegal to with it. It would pull an average boat no trouble.

Anyone know him or the law? (not pc plod)!

Ta gt

Is that the ex 'Maco' boat? I think it originally belonged to Stephen King

Apparently towbars fitted to post August 1998 cars need to be type-approved. Some post '98 cars are NOT approved for towbar fitment by the manufacturer. Prior to that date you are OK.

This thread on the Skoda forum (Yes, I drive a Skoda ) discusses the point in more detail.

I would guess that if the car you're looking at is pre '98 you'll probably be OK.

Ha ha, that is my uncle yeah he has fixed the hole the bottom twice now and still has to repair it a little, it is a very nice rib (if i can say that) and goes quite well just not very stable. He tows with his 3litre twin turbo supra, not sure wether it is a legal setup because he lives close by. It only just tows as there is to much power and it just wheel spins sometimes....

Any more questions on it??

Will

We are going out testing next week, so he will probably come out with us, so i will ask him then and get some answers for you?

I am prertty sure though that the towbar was fitted for him by a local garage and he supplied the bits......
