Ladies and Gentlemen of the Scrapheap 2007 / Series 10!
Some of you may have also stumbled across websites or articles that stated that Scrapheap has been cancelled and that no further series will be made… or at least heard rumours to that effect. Well, Scrapheap’s commissioning editor at Channel 4 has asked me to contact as many people as posible to state that this is not the case. The honest answer is that no decision has yet been made as to whether they will be commissioning an eleventh series.
As per the following article taken from the Off Cuts section of Broadcast magazine from Friday 31st August 2007 (and available to subscribers via their website at
http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/broadc...heap&x=31&y=13) this came about because the copy of Kevin Lygo’s speech for Edinburgh that was given to the press was an advance and not final copy. No reference was actually made to Scrapheap in his speech and no decision has yet been reached:
QUOTE
Was Lygo talking Scrap?
Whoever typed Kevin Lygo’s Edinburgh speech clearly go a bit caught up in the revolution in the air at C4 as it axes a raft of primetime factual entertainment shows. An advance copy of the speech handed to journos incorrectly stated that Scrapheap Challenge was itself heading for the scrapheap. The broadcaster’s normally unflappable head of press, Matt Baker, was left a little red-faced as he went from hack to hack advising them against printing a headline that practically wrote itself.
END QUOTE
As soon as we hear anything, we will of course let you all know!
With that being said, it will probably come as no surprise to hear that there is no news to report of when your efforts are likely to grace our screens. The post-production process is coming along nicely and we’ve got some really good shows already finished, but for those of you needing a more immediate Scrapheap fix then transmission of the second half of Scrapheap Challenge Series 9 is but 3 and a bit short weeks away.
For obvious reasons, I can’t tell you what the challenges are, but these are the dates and times and details I can tell you:
Prog 9 Sun 4 Nov @ 17:15
Prog 10 Sun 11 Nov @ 17:15
Prog 11 Final Sun 18 Nov @ 17:15
Prog 12 Grand Final Sun 25 Nov @ 17:15
Prog 13 Special Sun 2 Dec @ 17:15
Prog 14 Roadshow 1 Sun 09 Dec @ 17:15
Prog 15 Roadshow 2 Sun 16 Dec @ 17:15
Prog 16 Best Of Sun 23 Dec @ 17:15
HAPPY VIEWING! Oh and spread the word!
Guy
