Cool Scrapheap Challenge

I have been contacted by Channel 4 who are interested in running a TV show where the contestants have to build and drive a performance boat

Wasn't sure, but thought there might be one or two folks out there who might be interested in acting as the "expert" for each of the two teams to help them create a running boat.

You will need to be a bit of a hull and engine guru ... items you can find on the scrapheap to help build the boat are as follows:

Regarding experts, we are looking for engineers who are very hands on and capable of helping our teams to construct a boat from bits of scrap found on the heap in just 10 hours – definitely a challenge but also a lot of fun! The parts available to the experts would depend very much on the designs – we have some ideas already but it would be great if the experts could suggest their own. In past boat-based challenges we’ve had teams make hulls from the shorn-off roof of a transit van, fabricate a stepped monohull from girders and sheet steel, and use canoes as sponsons for a catamaran. They generally have to find a working engine in an otherwise done-for vehicle, remove it and set it up in the new build. In the past we’ve used a 6 litre V8 from a Buick, and a V6 from a Ford Mondeo.

Dates for the show are 23rd – 25th May, with the build taking place on the scrapheap in Basingstoke (can't think of a nicer place )

If you are interested, or know someone who would/could be a "expert" for the three days (I am looking for two people), let me know

Mike

Yes, I'd welcome an opposing team that didn't know their arses from their elbows.

That's a nasty thing to say about someone who's 'doing their best'.
