slipways.

Guys I'm trying to get our slipway price dropped here at lymington and wanted to know the price and condition of other slips prefabaly local around the south coast (be honest as the HM will go and check)! We currently charge £11 for under 100hp and £16 for over 100hp. Even I'm fed up of paying £16 now. :-(.

Also would anyone be interested in a meeting / cruise / lunch beers etc from lymington??

Northney marina is £20.80 - technically for launch and recovery (but if testing you can go in & out as many times as you need), can be over multiple days, inc parking. Excellent facilities (shop, showers, pontoons), clean & v. steep slipway so you don't have to dunk your car, accessible at all states of tide. And the pontoon is directly alongside the slip so you don't even need to start the motor to go on/off the trailer - perfect for self launching. And petrol station 100yds away.

Never thought I'd be recommending an MDL marina, but I really can't find any fault - oh, except bit of a drag through chichester harbour if the tides out - go through langstone if the tide is in.

Slipways near to me seem to be much fewer and far between. There are two local slipways at Newhaven harbour and the one I use (ANP Boating - right at the end of the channel) charges £15 to launch and recover with their tractor and included is use of the toilets/changing rooms. There are convenient pontoons and there is no extra charge for trailer/parking. Nice, friendly and helpful people.

Luke, always using Lym for testing and would love it if the fee could get dropped, or just try and get an annual/seasonal pass for it! £16 a pop adds up
But would be up for meeting up and testing etc and grabbing few beers. Pm when you are next heading out..

Will

Don't forget they won't be paying for a little sticker to go on the back of the boat!

Hey Cookee, just to clear things up I pay £16 a launch.... and recently got invoiced for pontoon space I used £142.... even I have to wait to get a "mooring" on the river. That "sticker" you talk about would then cost me like £140 off the top of my head, even the HM himself ahs paid. Crazy I know, but the commissoners are tight! :-D

I think its crazy the amount everyone has to pay.

Cardiff Bay is £6.50 + £5 deposit for the ID/dog tag thing. - Bargain

Parking is free too in the leisure centre car and trailer park.

This gives you acess to the Bay and lock access out in into the channel.

Short stay boat park at Mermaid key is 2 quid for up to 2 hours.

I think the waterski club at Penarth is only 30-50 quid a year too.

Last I heard Oxwich Bay in Swansea was 10-15 quid but this includes launch and recovery.

Sorry I should have made it clearer - we have to pay harbour dues which includes launching although parking a trailer is another thing altogether!
