Small boats

When small boats with outboards were a new thing over here in the UK, a few young guys decided to race them.

The first race was in 1962, involving Putney in London and Calais in France.

Plenty of water has gone under London Bridge since.

Check this blog out today >> http://runabout2superyacht.co.uk/news.html

Two of those young men in '62 are today trying to retrace their route.

If you would like to send the old men best wishes and good luck please PM me.

They Did It!

Mission Accomplished.

Geoff and Ray set off today at 05.45 and returned back to Chelsea Harbour at 20.30 this evening.

They took only three small breaks, refuelling stops at Ramsgate, and a quick glass of Champagne at Calais!

The attempt could have been slightly faster however, but our support boat a Sunseeker 47' was only allowed to run at 10 knots to Tilbury (and back).

On the way back they were ploughing through some unpleasant stuff in the AYC area, but the little Sovereign kept popping up from under!

Was a fantastic achievement by the chaps - A day I will not forget in a hurry!

Thanks to the sponsors, The Sunseeker support team and Nigel Davies, Skipper of the Portofino.
