"The RCD comes into effect in January 2006, when all new pleasure boats powered by four-stroke engines will be required to comply with certain sound and exhaust emission limits. Maximum noise emissions have been set at 67dbp for 10kW engines and below, 72db for 10kW-40kW engines and 75db for those over 40kW, with a 3db allowance for multiple engine installations"

Looks like the end for straight thru exhausts!

How noisy is my engine then or any merc wreving to 8000rpm with a offshore leg?

Bloody legislation next we will have gatsos in the solent!
This is only for new boats, so doesn't stop the owners getting rid of the silencers.
