No one told you to do anything, at least it's all cleared up.

Looks like a modified version of a K4+ console - changed across the top and through the central sections.

Another one is due - 30 seconds search on here would tell you that Nick Barsch owns the rights to the 19 .................. There are some RIBs out there already that have been made from those moulds.

The add was for a 21 foot rib I have every right to ask where the mould for hull came from and didn't get much of an answer all I was doing was boxing my own corner who else do I owe an apology to as I am not a flipping mind reader.

That implied that Nick Barsch might be up to something or am I being too sensitive? You could have asked a polite question which would have been the right thing to do?

I think he may have meant he thought a 19 had been flopped over. But now we all know it's ok now.

How could saying I hope it's all above board be seen as the owner of the p19 moulds being up to something , all that it could mean hope Nick Barsch knows about it and its all ok.

Having rights to the moulds is one thing, but if i buy a boat and just alter the orinal slightly then all rights are null and void, as the new boat is not the same.
Now if a phantom speedboat hull was moulded then the top lip of the hull was cut off and something different put on to take the tubes then the rights are with the person who has
made the rib hull and not the speedboat hull.
copywrite is a very strange thing, this is why you can go and buy pattern parts for almost anything, they only have to be very slightly different and the copywrite goes out the window.

also by adding length or shortening does the same thing, and smoothing out the odd
spray rail or adding one.
If for instance a cut out in the chines was put in then this is again a different hull to the original.

lots of people use all sorts of other peoples stuff, they only have to slightly modify,.
To build a rib and use a phantom hull it would indeed need to be modified or would look a bit strange i would think.

also what cobra ribs are you talking about ?
there is 2 companies selling rib boats called cobra and they are both ribs ofcourse, one is Picton boats in wales, the other is APV down in christchurch.

just my views on this topic.

I think that this post shows the dangers of this industry. Splashing a mold is easy. Altering a spray rail would not, I suggest, cut it in a court of law if the original owners had the money to challenge it. The question is how many mods are required to make a mold your own. Needs more clarity to stop people cashing in.

Making a decent (?) rib from a starting position of a powerboat hull is not a five minute, one alteration process. But I do think that original owners should have more protection . Trouble here is that many of the old, proven hulls have been splashed so many times its impossible to keep track. Follow the Shakespeare hulls from the outset if you want proof. Now in the possession of the chinese.

This is the first time I have ever thought someone may have splashed the p 21 and posted about it , would agree with you , if I was on here all the time claiming splashing but that's not the case .

Splashing

My thoughts for what they are worth are more about the build quality, if someone makes a crap copy who's going to buy it ? A mate of mine has a trio one and after seeing his I wouldn't have bought one off them and they had the rights to the moulds at the time !
