Is it a original Phantom, do you think?
Also seems like the price was okay?

Hi there, just noticed this on google searching for history on this boat. My dad brought this boat a couple of weeks back. After researching a little bit I have found the hull number and it was built 22/01/84. I was just woundering if anybody can shed a little light on any history or specs when it was built, i.e. Interior, exterior engine etc. It has a mercury 200 black max on at the moment. Had a lot of other speed boats in the past and something that seems to stand out is the weaving on the fibre glass, doesn't look like your run of the mill molds if that makes any sense. Thank you in advance on any replies. New to the site and hope to be a regular 👍

All phantoms were built like that heavy woven roving.

Looking round the boat in more detail it's definitely been painted at some point but nobody made the effort to remove the engine and paint behind, it's original paint was two red stripes by the looks?

This P600 was originally owned by Bert Williams of BJW Automarine in Lewisham, SE London, a major Phantom dealer. It was one of the very first P600's.
Then bought from Bert by Liam Moran of Swanley Kent. It was then called "the Planner" as Liam was a carpet planner. The red and orange stripes are original and have now been overpainted. Liam sold the boat a year or two ago to Chris and Gary, who have now sold it on. Boat has been ski-raced on a very small scale in club races. Boat and engine are completely original and have spent their entire lives at Allhallows Yacht Club on the Thames Estuary in Kent. That's where the photo was taken.

Thank you very much for your replie, sounds like it was look after then. Always good to no a little history, boat is in fairly good condition. After buying it we took it straight out on the water to test and the only problem we found was the steering. It took 4 turns of the wheel to put to full lock. When we investigated we found a small leak on the helm unit. Once we fixed that and bled the system it was back to 2 turns. Really happy with the purchase and the boat is currently in bits as we plan on refitting it out with new interior and painting the hull again to freshen it all up. Engine is spot on just needs a good service. Thanks to everyone for your replies. Great to see people are still very helpful. 👍

EDIT - The boat when owned by Liam was called "Plan-it", not "The Planner".
Enjoy It.

Hi guys, just to keep the interested ones up to date. Boat is currently stripped awaiting new paint. Just had a few questions to see if anybody could possibly answer them. Boat sanded down and revealed to what we think the original colours was, tried my hardest to find some old pictures of an original one but at a dead end so thought I'd ask if anybody on here had any. Also on stripping the boat out we removed both fuel tanks, one being the bigger of the two situated in the bow and the other situated in front of the transom. We emptied both tanks and removed a minimum of 110 litres, which we would guess if both tanks were full they would add up to around 140 litres. Just wondered if this was an after market upgrade or factory. Thanks again to everybody who has already replied to previous questions really appreciate it. lol

Hi mate thanks for your reply. Just looked through the Red Devil boat, looks nice. Still unsure wether it's the same style of boat to that. Most looks exlactly the same, hull transom dash etc. In ours it has 2 bench seats going inline with the boat rather than the bench going across the rear. In one of the pics it showed the back seat missing with no carpet down, perhaps it was cut out and changed at some point if it was a racer. Still not sure on the tanks tho,Red Devil one at the rear looks similar but slightly different and the bow tank in ours looks huge, like I said in last post we drained 110 litres and both tanks were 3/4 full so we would imagine they would add up to a minimum off 140+. Not that it matters at all, I just want to try and find out as much as I can about the boat. Somebody mentioned on an earlier post about it being a p600 as it was made 22/01/84. Thank you again for your response 👍

Are you painting the hull yourself? Would be interested in the costs as I would like to paint the sides and top deck at some point
Are you putting the 200hp Blackmax back on ?

My dads painting it, painted every boat his had. It's not his profession but he paints quite a lot so it comes in handy. Ye the blackmax is going back on when it's done. Just waiting for the trimmer to come and quote for seats etc. Spent the 1st 3 weeks just making the trailer brand new. Suspension, rollers etc. When test drive boat after purchase the boat went really well with blackmax on so we was pleased only down side to that particular engine is the noise of it but to be honest that's what I liked the most 👍

Where are you based ? I have a 150 Blackmax on our P20 and it runs low 60 gps with a laser 2 21pitch so you should see a bit more with the 200hp

We are in the midlands, engine goes well just needs a good service to be 100%. Steering was rubbish when tested, took 4 turns to get full lock, found a leak on the helm unit, fixed that then re bled the system and back to 2 turns now.
