As The Columbine Building in East Cowes is now supposedly to be the building where the new Red Jet 6 is to be built, one supposes that it is, in the short term at least, lost to the museum project.
Anyone know of anywhere else to house historic boats etc on the IoW ?

I think it needs to be so much more than storing old boats - that might be enough to appeal to us offshore die-hards. But to be a success it has to be so much more - making it a visiting attraction for people who don't really know that much- or even care that much.

So on the strengths of powerboating - has to be lots of film, a bit of glamour, noise, educational too. Lots that could be done - but would take budget and don't think any council has that.

Need somewhere like Beaulieu motor museum to have vision and create a new hall......

That's sounds about the most plausible solution Adam. We love a minority sport. I wonder what numbers were in Essex on a yearly basis? I suspect that in truth they might have been disappointingly low. The Motor Museum of Lord Montague is perhaps the best known in the UK with good reason and the place perhaps where the boat would stand the best chance of being maintained and displayed. Now where's my pen and paper.

Possible Powerboating link to Beaulieu via Charles Burnett? Reference: Land Speed Record Steam Car

I think Surfury and a few others could really add something extra to Beaulieu so can see as a win all round.

Could lead to much more in time perhaps.....
