Surfury "The Future"
Just a few months ago this and other web sites were humming about the developments that concerned the future security of SURFURY, it has all died down now but a little bird has told me that.........subject to the official handover by the National Maritime Museum, she will be safe and secure at Basildon. Now it maybe a little too early to start planning anything but would all you Powerboat fans out there classic and modern, who are intent in keeping these boats for posterity and can spare a couple of hours or more to help restore this world famous boat to its original condition or could even help get her running again in the old H2o , would you please register your abilities and intent to help with either CHRIS GRAYER at the Surfury web site, The Classic Offshore Powerboat Owners Club via John Iddon or with Julie at Basildon.
Secondly it will be the 40th Anniversary of her win at the Cowes Classic next year and it is hoped to have her on display on Cowes Seafront during the Powerboat Festival bank holiday week end and also to organise a COWES TORQUAY RALLYfor boats from the 60's 70's 80's and early 90's.
Out on the Saturday return to Cowes on the Sunday. Again any interested parties please contact the COPOC if this Rally would be of interest to you.
We will keep you up to date on developments
