Tax on petrol

If they bring in this new system that nobody wants (bear with me as this was last nights pub conversation!) will they reduce the amount of duty in fuel and get rid of car tax to replace it?

Unless they put trackers on your boat, that would mean much cheaper fuel for boats .................... bring on the V8's!

Of course I may have got the wrong end of the stick!

Of course you've got the wrong end of the stick - they never give anything back. Petrol will stay at the same price, but driving your car will get even more expensive.

Of course if they made all marine fuel free we could support the last construction and export industry this country has left !!!

It's interesting in Virginia. The state tax imposed on petrol is refunded if the fuel is used in a marine application. The rationale being that the tax is collected for roads infrastructure and if the fuel isn't being used on the road it is considered unfair to tax it as such.

In this country nothing ever gets cheaper. They'll tax it even more under the banner of 'saving the planet - it's for your own good'

Fuel Prices

The Yanks actually have the right idea on this- they wont pay the levels of tax on fuel that we do- and if someone tries to make them pay... they shoot them. Anyone else prepared to help take on that role with our supposed government

"The planet is suffering from gobal warming because uncle Cyril bought a four wheel drive".

Over taxing 4X4s, and marine use are easy targets for Gordon Brown, and will do nothing to stop any effect they are having on the World. What about the billions of tons of shyte that America and China push out each year?
Why is it only down to us in Britain to pay so very, very much more to enjoy the things we do?

"Lets start a petition to make uncle Cyril sell his 4X4 and save the World".
