One of the best power to rate ratio engines is the Gem which powered the Lynx helicopter. that chopper had the speed record for a while.
Design and build at Leavesden

The thing I read said they're a good motor, but very complicated. Not what ya want in a boat.

Don’t panic its not a design thing. Just look at how it been kept
1.lots of visible oxidation, exterior components & exhaust
2.un-blanked fuel & oil inlets open to dust, dirt moisture, hence its not been inhibited for storage.

Assume its taken out of the vapor bag for a picture

Not (aka Borat)

Yep its from the wasp/scout it can be tweaked up to 800hp+
I have played around with a few of these engines and they all look a little tatty as they sit outside the chopper without an engine cover.
They have some sort of brown varnish type protector spayed over them.
If you want to play with a turbine this is a good simple engine to start with gauges are plentiful and start up procedure is simple.

Heres a good hobby link on the engine
