The Round Britain Cannonball Run July 2015.

Death of an era! Next week's Round Britain Cannonball Run meeting has been cancelled through lack of interest. Just five teams showed firm interest in attending.

This is a very sad day for us, Obviously the spirit of adventure in Powerboating is dead.

You can safely say that the above event is now not going to happen, which will please some and disappoint a few others.

That's ashame.. Another option could of been a relay run?

This could give the smaller boats a shot a doing a leg?

Not sure if this would of generated more interest?

Just a thought..

With so many recent failures of events I would imagine it's far too late for this kind of event with boats sold and I for one am unsurprised by the apathy.

i am still up for a Round Britain blast. I was planning to head up to Sweden and St Petersburg in the boat this summer but would be happy to join any other boats in a quick round the coast run. A long as the RYA is not involved and gentleman's rules apply then i am in.

....sorry i can't really make pre event meetings

ps - please don't ask me to define "gentleman's rules" as i have no real idea but i am sure participating teams could make something up.

The spirit of adventure and fun in boats isn't dead, unfortunately I don't have the money for such trips otherwise I'd be in!

if money is the issue then some boats could just join in on the leg closer to their home port ? .......so this might mean 50 boats for the solent and 2 for Peterhead !!

also given that the price of oil has dropped off the planet then 2015 has to be the cheapest time to go on a jolly - especially if you run with 2 x 300xs

Or like I previously mentioned a relay, for example I could do north west leg, you solent leg and so on..

Solves mega fuel bill issues, travel, let's smaller boats enter = more numbers!

1500 miles with 2 x 300xs motors isn't going to be cheap even at 80p a litre!

People in this country are still on ther arse.

Mike

Where do you get your fuel at 80p a litre?

Out of interest what would you get out of being involved in a relay?

Poker runs are enjoyable as they involve short distances in the boat followed by banter beer and food.
I have no idea why someone wants to be smashed about for 6 hours 10 miles of land on a poker run and spending thousands on fuel and possibly breaking down in the middle of nowhere. I can think of much more enjoyable ways of spending my money

All that takes organising Mike and to do that takes time and money, as you well know from your Poker Run. As there is no organiser for this run then what Tallyho suggests makes sense. Anyone wanting to join in the run meet at Hamble Point on the day as he suggests. See you there!!

I'm saying should the fuel go down to even that low it will still be mega expensive!

The relay is just an idea to give smaller boat a chance of running and being involved. What you get out of it is the same as any boating event! The rush and being able to say you took part!

How do you get smashed about for 6 hours 10 miles of land on a poker run for boats?

I understand what you mean mike it's very hard to even organise a bloody poker run! Never kind what your trying to achieve!

Best of look to you and I hope a few teams go for it!

Mike
