The "Formulator" thread
I thoght I should share some pictures of what has been done so far on Matt´s previous boat "Formulator".
I started by removing the Kiekhaefer controls and put on some new paint and got the throttles polished. Turned out great!
Im gonna buy some new wires aswell.

Then I started to remove some of the bottompaint to restore the "classic Formula look". Im not sure if I will remove all of the bottompaint this season but I will do it next winter for sure. The hull will have a updated paintjob next winter aswell, right now we´re gonna put some vinyl on the hullsides to cover the area were the "Formulator" logo was placed. And yes, the formulator logo has been removed.
The Formula logo+ the thunderbird on the hullsides has been removed and will be replaced by fresh ones.

They were always like that.
I took the skeggards off from the original photo you commented on cos they slowed it down by 1->1.5 mph.
Freddan has the skeggards if he wants to put em back on.

Not much on a boat with full size skegs.
With em on the boat ran 62mph as per factory specs.
Without it ran 63 and a bit.

You're missing the point.
I put em on cos I wanted the skegs to be standard size instead of cut down and it was a pile of hassle to get the skegs welded back up. It lost speed when I put em on, so I took em off again.
It cornered fine since it's a twin engine rig.

On a single it's a crap idea since you need the skeg to have a hope of controlling the boat.
Look at some of the old (twin engine) raceboats. No skegs.

No hacksaw, please!
I will not use the skeggards, because of what matt just wrote - it will loose some speed. On the other hand I might have the skeggs welded next season to normal lenght.
I will start working on the hull this sunday (if Im sober ) and hopefully I´ll post some more pictures after the weekend.
A new swimplattform is in the works aswell... more about that later.

Yes.
'Splash' means to make an illegal copy of the hull/deck in order to sell copies for profit.
Doesn't go down very well on here!
