200xs

I might be the guy Pirate means. Firstly, I was part of the discussion to bring the 3B and 3C classes into the rules, but it was voted against before the 2013 season started. Progress needs to happen but the membership, at this time, said no. The class that the 200 XS cannot run in is a stock 200 carburated NO fuel injected engines. Some mods are allowed for this class as per the rules. The Phantoms and Rings with the 200 carbs not XR2's, run 72 max, I agree with Scotty the 200 XS can run up to 20 mph faster. Cookee yes the 200 XS is way faster, just look at the clip, 280 on left 200 xs on right, it keeps up with a 280 in the calm. The 280's are running only just in the 90's at top end, if you believe what you are told. I know my 280 is only doing that.
For the record my two phantoms do not have XR2 motors, they blewup years ago.

When you look at the clip don't just look at my boat running next to a 280,look at Brian's old boat that we bought here last summer and put a 280 on it that has a gap on my boat and your boat. He is leaving and we are just coming. And we have had that boat very close to 100mph on GPS.

UIM's canopy rule - from the RYA / UK we were against the canopy rule coming in.

Indeed I think it is a crime how the UIM how the class has been allowed to 'progress'.

I might well have gone back to racing 3C if it was the class is was meant to be.

I think it's wrong that the Ring 21 or Phantom 21 are illegal to race in 3c.
Having said that I can also see the benefits of a cockpit at 80 plus MPH
Where oh where is the 3C fleet in the UK though 20 plus boats would be nice
Maybe 3C should start at 150 hp without a cockpit ?

For National racing nothing has changed except that you can now run smaller boats with bigger engines Canopies have only affected International 3c and none of the UK guys bother with that anyway !! (except Scotty and he has a canopy)

Well Bob
I ran the old Slipstream with an XR2 always wanted the chance to do a world or European.
My son ran an Xr2 on Bat boat

Firstly we were told the engine emissions of an XR2 were going to be illegal.
So both re engined with Xs engines.
The following year it had to be canopies to compete, that's when we gave up any hope of competing at the highest level of international sport in 3C

Club racing and grass roots racing is fantastic and thriving especially inGuernsey but why outlaw Clubmen style boats from 3G
Brian is right. Where there is a will, there's a way !

Not really true Brian - this was all on legal advice / insurance issues etc.

The best that could be done was the formation of the BCC classes.

This had given the old 3C open boats somehwere to race - but hasn't really encouraged that many new competitors and even less new builds - so one of the reasons I'm not racing.

The 150 open cockpit class would be a great way to go for 3C - far too sensible for some countries to vote for / get through UIM!

When I went to the sepa agm a couple of years ago the 150 subject came up and it was discussed in what I thought was a very positive light. I put forward the idea that open cockpit boats could form a class to work with the rules alongside the French and scandinavian clubs, thus a basis for a future European championship of sorts and I thought it went down well especially as there were a few rigs ready to go.this could be started as bcc2.

Lo and behold bcc2 is upped to 200hp not 2 weeks later.
