Transom problems

We have a 2006 Fletcher 14 and I recently noticed that the aluminium trim running across the top had detached itself on one side. On closer inspection, it appears that the top inch of the timber (behind the fibreglass) has rotten. A tap test of the transom shows a nice “bounce back” in the vast majority of it, and it appears that only the top strip on one side has issues. Has anyone else come across this before please and can anyone recommend a good repair workshop please?

Smiths resin. Expensive but the transom will be stronger than new. Good luck. D.

Where you based? It’s a lot easier a repair if your deck doesn’t sit on top of transom, therefore cheaper. Alternatively do it yourself.

Thanks for the reply. We are in Kent, but happy to travel if you know someone good.

Ribtube.co.uk in Devon does transoms I believe. He’s a normally priced guy. But it’s a long drag from Kent
