Well well, Dicks 46-US1!

Dicks 46 went to the US west coast in about '94. (it was re-rigged for pleasure use in 1990 with triple petrol power)
I think the white 'Flying Flipper' sterndrive boat pictured, now belongs to the fella who navigates for Howard Wretham in his pro'vee and Skater cat, his name escapes me at the mo. he was at Littlehampton with Howard a few weeks back. Dunno when it last ran tho'.
Was that Hunton 28RSR pictured the ex 'Puffa duvet clothing', of 1984 Round Britain fame?
dunno what happened to that one. a pal of mine bought the old 'Raven Estates' 28 RSR, and raced it for a bit, then it sold to a fella in Spain.

Ahh, nice to see my old boat, Babycresci, amoungst the pictures there, I guess that must have been Guernsey in 87 or 88 by the arch in the back of the picture as we only did Cowes, Poole and Guernsey and it isn't either of the former two. Got slightly off the turbine thread here ! As I guess has been confirmed Passing Cloud was a Tiger Shark in plastic not tin. The late 70's were really interesting for turbines, guess that the guys had the money then and were willing to experiment. Whilst they all claimed vast amounts of horsepower it never seemed to translate into reliable speed, probably the equivalency factor that they applied meant that they were too derated.

Topolino/BabyCresci! Was my favourite boat in the '80's!
Fulvio Maria Ballabio-Steve Curtis dominated the euro season in 1987,before the Stain 38' cat sank in the cold water of the North Sea. When it was recovered nothing was the same....

Black Tornado the interesting thing is that Steve only did the first two races with Ballabio and then he left the team as they could not get on together. I was the crew chief and I was then in the boat for the rest of the season with Ballabio and Georgio Morosini. I was throttling the boat when we barrell rolled it in Sweden at Oregrund, (as a rudder broke, water was very cold!), and then took it back to Cougar at Hamble to re-rig it ready for Poole and Cowes. At Poole we were about 100 metres behind Peroni when he had his very unfortunate accident. Really like the picture you posted, any chance of emailing me a high resolution copy ?

Black Tornado; I am indeed Simon Wood Power, I am proud that I was involved in Offshore in the late 70's and early 80's when the racing was really big. For the 1987 European Championship we had 16 races with over 20 class 1 boats at each race, that year it was better than the World Championships.

Unfortunately I have very few pictures left from that year as I lost them all many years ago so any you have of Babycresci would be really great.
