Varne Boat Club

What has happened to this once excellent boat club, after not visiting for years i decided to cruise along the coast from Eastbourne, and to my surprise at high water on easter sunday (lovely warm day, with light winds) only 3 jet ski's and 1 vintage speed boat on the water.

Its such a shame when this happens, but have a look on the club's website and you would be fooled into thinking this is the place to boat on the south coast.

Easter sunday would always be the first club ski race of the season, with boats visiting from other clubs, but not a race boat in sight (even in the car park), the club used to host national ski race & powerboat events not forgetting the legendary cross channel ski race.

Still i bet the bar was busy, sad really when the members let their boat club turn into a cheap pub.

Have a look of this mobile phone picture of Dungeness, why wouldn't anybody be out on water like that?

Is that club still standing!!! i am suprised that its not been pulled down yet, could build some nice beach front houses there!!! I do remember racing there, some1 drove a tractor into someones trailer, that was funny! never seen it as flat as your pic mate, always used to have some big rollers. We where down Allhallows on Saturday watching Jake sking and GOOD GOD where have all the boats gone that used to be in the compound!!! and only Jake and 1 jet ski was out!!! seams to be the same eveywhere mate!!!

Guess they must have just got out of the race side of things. Was a great little club, launching was always slick though lack of a mooring was a pain sometimes, great breakfast too. Days long gone

I think you have hit the nail right on the head there mate

like i said, its a shame when the members let a great boating club turn into a cheap pup

but hold on all is not lost, just been looking at the website again. A stairlift has been fitted, so even when you're really pi$$ed you can make it up and down those long stairs
