Vector? Buzzi copy?

Freeze frame took this photo of boats coming into show, think this has been talked of before it has vector written on it's floatation/wing thingybut it looks like the very very expensive boat that was based on the buzzi 48' and featured on top gear forget the name and this boat also has a resemblance to it but is it related or somfink completely different

It is a new Ocke Mannerfelt design built by Vector in the USA. It is basically a big B28 like Nick's.

Nigel hook is also racing one of these with ilmors in P1 this year.

I should wash my mouth out or fingers out for typing such an accusation, now you point it out I can see the Oche influence and the roof does look like an up-scaled version of the pleasure 28' and it does show why their are no familiar Trimax drives on it's ass end but Merc no 6

Must admit I am also looking forward to this beast hitting the water should liven things up a bit

Two good friends of mine already had the chance to go on a test ride (or test flight ) with this hot new Vector in Canada. The boat is powered by two 1200 Teague engines with six drives. The boat hit nearly 120mph on the GPS speedo, and this was not the end (engines were new). Here are some more pics of the boat...

By the way, the wings are extendable by electricity. So it's still possible to transport the boat on a trailer.

I saw this boat in key west, it is unreal, so beutifully designed and built.
Powerboat magazine have also done a great article on it, i spoke to nigel hook and he is over the moon with it. looking forward to se it race, i think there may be a problem in the rules regarding the wings though something about being classed as air enmtrapment/ wings. because they move
i may be wrong

Nigel has had the wings removed/blocked off on the race boat.

shame, i did read in his interview that the wings made a substatial difference to handling. but i guess rules is rule.
I do wonder sometimes how designs and technologies can advance whith rules like this, especially as that is a premier class

Don't forget that pete little and ian blacker cut the wings off the b28 in 6 litre to improve handling.

The wings are not banned in the rules unless they point downwards, if they are parallel or pointing up slightly they are fine - otherwise the batboats in Class III would be illegal.

I was there in 2005 and that is the tip of the iceberg! Celebrated my birthday in Key West the following November with Tony Hamilton, Richard Carr, Mark Pascoe, and the Mcarthy's on Duval Street - two events on the calendar that are truly epic!
