VHF License
I know I've asked this before - but this time I'm serious. Probably.
About to upgrade my race license from provisional, but would like to include VHF at the same time. Soooo, anyone doing a VHF course on the sarf coast over the next few weeks?

Kinda fancy getting one one day - been for a trial flight in a Cessna 172, also had a go in a chipmunk at school - that was pretty cool, and used to love sitting in the jump seat as a kid when my old man was a pilot - the view for a night landing at heathrow has to be the coolest thing in the world. My observation so far is that powerboating is cheap compared to flying.

When I was really young, Viscount (always remember I burnt my finger on a bulb in the cockpit). Then Tristar, followed finally by 757 & 767. He's retired now. Got some good perks with it - flew around the world in 8 days when I was about 6, shame I don't really remember it, used to spend christmas' in the middle east (Dubai, Bahrain etc). Some cool memories.

I use the ATPL one as the VHF ammt states the use of any VHF equipment that is freq controlled regardless of installation. So you could use it for Both (Air & Marine) nothing like getting to gov agencies going at each other (Tee hee). Sure it's saling close to the wind but was never questioned at race control
EEk Probibly kew the or worked at some point with the fella..........

I've always tried to avoid getting too many certificates - in case someone expects me to actually know anything as a result.

Certainly beats the 'other' type of family holiday, which usually meant spending 2 weeks lolloping around in the 5 knot sailing boat taking 24ish hours to cross the channel. God I used to hate that crossing. Makes quite a good floating caravan though, as long as ya don't have to take it anywhere fast.

Mmm. I was under 1 in 76 - so I can't remember what he was doing then. I guess it was 78 or 79 when I burnt my finger in the viscount - (see, I was scarred for life). He got laid off for a bit, I guess in the early 80's, then retrained and went back on the tristars.

www.marine-radio.co.uk is running courses.
If you need extra bodies, my navigator needs the course. Has to be a weekend though.
We can travel to Southampton area for the course.

Look at that like this - at least you were around for the greatest years of powerboat racing.
