out of intrest the ali class 1 follett I assumed had a top speed around 95mph with 1600hp diesel issotta's, but what weight was the boat ?, as in P1 the thuraya boat is shown as 800hp lambo's so it must weigh 5600kg for it's 95mph class restricted speed, although this boat is about to depart the series or so we are told, shame them Lambo's sounded greeaaaaaaat at Cowes last year

I understand from Tony Fiddy that he has purchased the old Class 2 Planatec that was Follet Car Group etc. He says he recued it from a field in Hampshire. I think the later Follet, a CUV was sold to Sweden. World of Powerboats are publishing regular features on veterans, the latest being Thunderbolt, first winner of Cowes, now owner by Mike James

God knows, they're from 70's>80's, probably mostly used as anchors now,and any that are servicable, will be in historic stuff in the states.
They'd take some looking after, if you did find some.
mebbe PJC knows of such motors lurking somewhere.
Nice idea, but can't help thinking a pair of 500, pr 525 EFI's, complete with warranties would be more sensible

Yep the engines where originally made by Kiekhaefer Aero Marine, they had the kinsler (excuse me spelling) fuel injection systems fitted which where a bit of a pain, but did look great with those tall trumpets, if you found a pair of these engines they would probably be rust buckets, expensive to rebuild and un-reliable. I agree with John a pair of 500 or 525 Mercs for reliability reasons would be good.!
