Where is "Follett Cars"?

Does anyone know where the old 40ft Class 11 "Follett Cars" is? It sounds as though there is some interest in starting a "Classic" powerboat class.

I've a feeling it went the same way as 'Jaguar, the legend', and got weighed in for scrap!

PJC will know for sure.

I also assume 'Debenhams/Shockwave' went to the great Offshore race in the sky when it vanished from the old Cougar site in Hamble (not hamble point, the yard after that), along with a few old ali cats and a new unfinished one.

Well, that's it then! Wasn't there a 40ft Cougar mono sitting in Littlehampton a couple of years ago owned by Harry Sired, Where's that gone?

T Fiddy at UKOBA (tel number available) was mentioning this to me this morning and saying that he has a few guy's who would be interested in taking "Classic" race boats to a few meetings and just making a lot of noise and spray and having a bit of fun at a good dinner afterwards. It needs some oomph behind the idea to get it off the ground but it sounds a winner to me. After all they have Classic car races don't they? What would constitute a Classic boat though. Over 25 years old?

I reckon these days, a driver that's over 25 years old is a classic!

All sounds very good.

I'm sure there's loads of mileage to had from the historic stuff, in fact I sent an email yesterday to Ian Rowsell asking his advice on trying to get an 'old timers' get together under way, as I reckon it's be very cool.

The boat was the old Yellowdrama 5, a Cougar US-1 46, its back on the water in the Solent and powered by a pair of Yanmar 440hp diesels on SDS surface drives, runs 48-9 knots with the tide down hill!

Forget racing the old boats, just get Drivers/Mr Miller and the Clubs like UKOBA to put together more poker runs
