(yet another) What boat is this? (thread)

This is my first (previous) boat. I bought it off my ex boss. The boat was built in 1980 by one of our laminators, from a mould borrowed from Millendreath Marine in Looe, Cornwall.

Length 14 1/2 feet.
Deadrise 22 degrees (measured @ transom with a spirit level!)

Anyone know what it is? I've never seen another, so I'm guessing there aren't that many about.

It was crap, but I'd really like to know what it was.

This shows the flat bottom/zero spray rails. (no wonder I've got no teeth left!)

This is my favourite shot. ('cause it's taken from the conning tower of a mini-submarine!)

looks very similar to a mould we've got left over somewhere, only we put full wraparound screens on ours. Also got a 12' version that looks the same.

Hi Cap'n

Checked out the Plancraft website (good site BTW). It does look a bit like the Sceptre & the dates would be about right. Could be a mod of one I suppose. Can't see the deck top in the picture on the website though. The bulge down the bow on my red boat is unusual. Wonder if the Sceptre has the same? I'll have to do some web searching.

Darexms

Thanks for the reply.

I know this shows I've probably not been taking note, but who are the 'we' you're refering to. (Plancraft?)

Don't suppose you've got any pictures?

'we' is just a couple of mates and myself. We've had various over-ambitious projects over the years that get started and never got finished. A bit of a hobby really.

IIRC our ones had spray rails though.

I don't think I've got any pics of the 15' but I'm sure there's some of the 12'. I'll dig them out and post them.

Or the massive dent in the nearside front wing where some !@*%er reversed their trailer into it & then cleared off without leaving a note!

That picture was taken in about 1993. That Sierra was 10 years old then. Sold it for £250 to a nice man with more tattoos than someone with a lot of tattoos.

Nice weather wasn't it; back in the old days.

Plymouth.

3rd picture is Cawsand Bay, with Mount Edgcumbe estate in the background.

4th picture is just outside Plymouth Sound. I think the white blob in the centre of the picture is the breakwater fort. Staddon heights is on the right (if you look carefully you can just about make out 'the wall') & Mount Edgcumbe estate is on the left. We are about 2 miles offshore here.

The slipway is at Richmond Walk (next to Mayflower Marina)

I imagine Dan & Cookee will probably recognise some of these views.

Finally found them!!!!

Sorry for the poor pic quality, I don't have access to a scanner at the moment.

The one in these pictures has a 25hp merc on it, I've also got some pictures of one with a 70hp merc.
