Cancellation of Torquay Race

I had a chance to talk to Markus Hendricks today, & he advised that Ilmore, in the US., were late in delivery of his new engines for Cinzano.
He therefore found that they would not be ready for the Torquay Race, & advised ORDA accordingly.
Other competitors, upon discovering that Cinzano would be unable to attend, then "pulled" their entries, one by one, leading to a domino effect.
This sad situation is not of "Team Cinzano's" making, and it is also sad that other Marathon competitors pulled out, leading to the eventual abandonment decision.
Hopefully this is a "One-Off" and the rest of this years races will proceed as planned, and that competitors will commit to the races at Poole, Cowes & Weymouth.

Sounds like a pretty Piss-poor excuse to me . So if one of the girls don't come out to play the rest won't too ??? Now that really is a sad state of affairs when powerboat racing in the UK is teetering on the edge of the abyss

Bob, your comments like this are so childish and unhelpful, I'd expect better of you. In a time where our sport needs us we should be supporting races whenever we can and not choosing to boycott because it's not a formatt you ideally want.
Neal, remind me how many races you managed at Allhallows??!

Just for the record Torquay could not run over 2 days due to a ViP visit on the Saturday so 2 days on the water was not permitted.

Chris, you have hit the nail on the head! Not all of us can afford to get hotels every weekend of a race and spend time away from our new wives/families.
We all race for pleasure as and when we can afford to, not everybody can be pleased all of the time.
We all need to put our differences aside and co operate so we can all enjoy a sport we love.
It's about time childish attitudes and ego's were put away and boats brought out to race.

Jay

surprise surprise look who has come out of the woodwork to have a moan as usual perhaps you should look at your own state of affairs before having a go at everyone else!!!! (by the way this is Claire not Eric)

Neal
It was not a lack of effort with regard to allhallows it was a lack of boat.
We always intended to go but with no boat we couldn't exactly enter..

Sorry Jay but I was answering a question ! Maybe you mis understood my reply. Sadly if the format does not suit everyone then everyone won't go.
By having a 2 day event everyone can go for 1 or 2 days Allhallows was 2 days partly because you only wanted to do Saturday and someone else could only make Sunday the other 9 wanted to run on both days to make it worth the trip !
Having a 1 day event excludes the majority. Having such old fashioned courses excludes some more !

1st National of the season is always a risk !
