Roy Bundle.

We have just heard the sad news about the passing of Roy Bundle.
Our thoughts are with Irene and their family at this difficult time.

Roy and Irene have been around the sport over 30 years constantly offering professional levels of safety cover for racing.
Roy was considered the daddy of 'The 6 Pack' safety crews and as a fine gentleman he will be sorely missed.

All the team at ORDA.

Very sad news.

When I was organising UKOBA races in the mid 90s, Roy and Irene were always there. Ever smiling and helpful. He will be sorely missed.

Great friend, great colleague - will be truly missed.
Consientious, unassuming, dependable - what more could you ask for?
Our thoughts are with Irene & family.

A gentleman who always took time to talk. Unassuming and efficient in their work as a safety crew, Roy and Irene had the utmost respect in my eyes.

Condolences to Irene and family at this time.

Sad News on Roy

We first met Roy and Irene at our first Cowes Event in our Boat as we approached the course we got waved away that was before we did Safety. Roy and Irene where the first people who spoke to us when we started doing Safety at the 1.3 ltr Worlds in Folkestone that was back in 1991. We have been to many places with them as part of the 6 Pack. Irene introduced me to Oysters in Queribron. Then in Swansea one year Paul Edgley shouted to what he thought was Roy and Irene as they left the crane only when Irene turned round in her wooley hat it was Rob Beakhust and said get a shave Irene. My last memory will be R&R (Roy & Ray) Safety right up to the end of last year with P1. They will be missed they are part of the 6 Pack as it was. Roy now joins the Powerboat Angels in the Sky that have been taken recently. Our thoughts are with my Log writer and her Family.

Roy

In 1988 we had a Bournemouth Pier to Pier speed attempt.

I was trying to be the fastest Class 3C boat out there with the Event Sponsor in the back, so asked Roy if he could take some cans of fuel on board with him to give my cat the range to get back to Poole.

We did the up and down - Boscombe to Bournemouth Piers, I have the German Event Sponsor coming over my intercom, "Yah, Fuc, dis is gut for the first time no"?

Get over the line past Bournemouth Pier and the XR2 is out of juice.

Roy spots it, comes over with the arranged fuel.

During the hand over in sloppy water, Roy dropped one of the cans on my leg and broke it.

Since that day, every time I have seen him, I have limped up to him, "My leg, My leg"!

Roy was a top bloke.

Further to previous post, I understand that donation in memory of Roy, as to be for the RNLI.
