P1 Superstock to run a short race on the Saturday.
JP wants 30 Safety Boats to look after that one - So loads more fun for Ciao and the team over the next few months.

I was actually referring to a cowes 100 for the marathon class, or even better a couple of laps around the west solent and then around the island, that'd probably be a nice warm up.
I assume the answers no regardless.

Basic Race - Up to 300 HP - Over 300 HP
Cowes Yacht Haven - It is planned to have much more going on for 2012 including a beer tent.
Marathon Racing - Only the Cowes Torquay Cowes - I will address the "Elephant in the room" with the RYA in due course.

Cowes Powerboat Festival, 2012
Well done John -
If John had not "volunteered" to once again organise this historic event, it would likely be lost forever.
It is essential that we do not allow a break in the continuity of the event, or we could easily find that it would be immpossible to resurrect it.
The extra work, & "officialdom" needed to run a "Cowes 100" type race as well as the CTC & CPC Races is asking too much of an all-volunteer organisation.(As was the case in 2010).
As John states, the safety-boat requirement alone for each race is a major task to organise on its own, so for better or worse, we must be greatful for what JM is offering, imho.
It would assist greatly if volunteer safety boats advise their availability early in 2012, to make the SO's job easier

whilst safety boats at the start and finish are very important, the 3 of us that were down at the Torquay end never got a mention - or Thanks!

Safety Boats & crews
I think that ALL safety crews were sent a "Thank you", if they were not at Cowes, & it hardly needs stating that without such dedicated crews, prepared to sit out on a mark or in often exposed positions for a long time, the race could not run.
So, on behalf of the SO, & all of the BPRC, again, very, very, very greatful thanks for the dedication of ALL the safety crews who helped the Cowes races run this year, & in fact to all who help in other races over not just this, but many previous years too.
