HTS wins the SONNY LEVI TROPHY for 2013
In the space of 18 months COPC member Nick Wilkinson has performed a miracle with the remains of the multi race winning hull of HTS / Apache which had been rescued by previous owner David Hagan from the forclosure of the Basildon Powerboat Museum.
Secret negotiations between Nick and David resulted in the Don Shead designed HTS being purchased and restored to high standards by Nick and his team with the aim of entering the aborted 2013 Cowes Monte Carlo Marathon.
With substantial input from her original engineer Mike Bellamy and with new engines supplied and fitted by Perkins, Nicks dream came to fruition in June this year when the transformed craft took part in the 2013 mini marathon from London to Poole via the Channel Islands. She is now ready for her greatest adventure in the 2013 edition of the CTC where she first appeared back in 1969.
Such was the enthusiasm Nick has endowed into this project that it was concluded quite rapidly that he and his team should be the recipients of the unique
” SONNY LEVI TROPHY ”
I am sure all club members and the offshore powerboat world as a whole will feel that this is one of the most deserved winners of the trophy.
Congratulations to Nick and everyone who brought this famous offshore craft back to life!
Mike
COPC
PS.... HTS will be battling against DRY MARTINI in the Historic class....on a trial with re profiled props she was touching 53 knots..look out Mr Bontoft!!

A very worthy winner of the Sonny Levi Trophy.
Perhaps you could inform all - Where and at what time the presentation will be this year? (Please note RYS is only for Cowes Classic 2013 competitors and teams).

Well deserved recognition
Well done Nick! A great award and recognition of all the hard work Nick has put in to HTS in the last 2 years. He's a great host and generous skipper & owner and deserves all praise for HTS. Lovely job!
All the best
Jonathan

Entry #15
http://cowes2013.co.uk/entrants.html
Boss One.
A boat that many of us on this forum have been waiting to see, (for some years).
Robin, her owner proudly showed her for the first time at this year's Venture Cup in London.
His crew member for the Cowes Classic 2013 is Max Smillie, a young lad that is rapidly learning from his father Eric (A 2 times Cowes Torquay Cowes winner) with engineering and navigation.

It would be great Jonathan if you could tell us how HTS handled those difficult seas in the Prologue recently and what speeds you were getting. Obviously she is a bit different ride to Miss Daisy!

15 is the best we can do!
Not a secret, but the BPRC team think it is time to take a rest from running this Event.
Enjoy the Cowes Classic 2013!

Tony is busy with work, in, I believe, China !
Vee is, again I believe, shipping his boat abroad to race.
As John has hinted, we are coming towards the end, sadly.
No new blood, too much 'officialdom' of various types putting off competitors, excessive costs, need I continue ?
The Classic Rally will be in CYH however, & that event will have more entrants than the race. So, pop down over race weekend to see the boats of previous years in all their glory !
