Cowes 2013 Update
Just to let you all know the BPRC are already working towards their 2013 event.
Considering the economic climate in 2012, it was amazing to see so many competitors, Marathon boats, Club Class, P1 Superstock and Aqua X.
Our 2012 entries with those classes (above) were just under 60.
Lets look forward to August Bank Holiday weekend 2013.

An Update on Cowes 2013
Race Date 01/09/2013
We are not going to use the "traditional" Bank Holiday Weekend next year.
Reasons;
Torquay has sailing regattas during the August Bank Holiday Weekend
Torquay Council want to see Race Boats at Torquay
Course >>
Race 1 - Cowes or North Head to Torquay
Stop at Torquay (Approx 3 hours)
Race 2 Torquay to Cowes / Gurnard

With this move of dates, will this give us a more than 50% chance the start finish will be off Cowes, or at least a finish near Egypt Point John?
I can see the logic behind this, with the Bank Holiday weekend traditionally being the busiest time of the year in and around the Solent. In all the years racing at Cowes over the Bank Holiday period, I believe the Monday was ever used once!
Cheaper for the transportation of the boats and the hire of the facilities outside the holiday weeks
will also help the running costs on putting on such an historic event I’m sure.
Those extra 3 hours in Torquay, I will need to control myself from drinking those extra pints while awaiting their return! Will be a test for me, as well as you racing guys!!

Cowes Classic 2013
An update.
Race date: September 1st 2013
The wet pits for competitors next year will be at the Royal Yacht Squadron.
We ask all competitors to come to Cowes on their bottoms fully fuelled for the race.
There will be no craning or hard standing for trucks, support vehicles etc. (similar to this years Lymington race).
As for the "elephant in the room", (RYS start) we are working on this now.
The BPRC will not be running the Cowes Poole Cowes race next year, our intention is to run racing for OCR, BCC and Formula Future at Torquay.
I will put up the Event web site over the Christmas period with more details.

Reasons.
The Bournemouth Air Show is on that weekend - exclusion zones in Poole Bay etc.
P1 Superstock, (who have been the bulk of the fleet for the CPC in 2011 & 2012) have decided not to continue with Cowes in 2013.
