That is looking seriously good. Is it common to use balsa in the mould? I think all moulds I've seen here in Sweden have been single skin.

We use balsa in our moulds for stiffening.

Hi Paul - We will have a boat towards the end of April - which is all very exciting. Will then go straight into boat number 2.

Maybe we will look at doing a press launch / launch party soon after that ..... if you supply the jelly

I think the balsa for stiffening up moulds is good practice - but I have clients who do use it and those who don't.

One of those areas of boat building where people really have their own ways of doing things and as long as the care and quality is good there are many ways of getting the best results.

The deck plug is progressing really well - but more shaping of the cockpit front and the wings being the next stage.

Of course depends on final specifcation - but certainly the first few boats will be at special prices. A two seat race boat, built with good quality materials, seamless hull to deck joint, fuel tank, ballast tank, seats, hatches, bow rail etc etc - looking at around £8.75k plus vat.

Maybe other options / prices. Also the side by side cockpit version to come.

The race deck mould will be taken off next week - so all progressing really well.

PM me for more details
Adam

A photo of the deck plug nearing completion - taken last week before I went away. The deck mould is now either being completed or is completed.

Really difficult to get a photo giving the lines of the boat as it is pretty tight at the top end of the workshops....

But we will soon be into build of the first boat and that will be completed in April.

Also - work will then start on the 4 seat leisure deck lay-out / moulds.

This boat will initially be rated to 200hp - but we are looking at going to larger horsepower too.

Many thanks for the comments - would be great to see the boat taken on and a series for it!

Sounds good that there is another engine option for 3B too.

Photo of the deck mould beiing laid up.

Hi Phil - the deck mould is now complete and build of boat 1 now starts next week, with a target completion date of the end of April. Boat 2 over-lapping the build of boat 1.

Not sure how soon the first boat will be on the water - although want to push it along as quickly as possible. A few recent changes to future plans and this may mean a change to engine choice for the first boat as well.

We will still have one racing in 3B - but maybe we go with more power for the first boat.

Moulds for hull and deck all complete and released - shame the photo does not show the lines.

Moulding of boat 1 starts next week.
