4 Litre cats

Back at the old photo's - and found various 4 litre cats!

Great boats and just a shame that the class is hardly existing - as I think that is what I would be doing now!

First one - multi World Champ.

With the demise of the XR2, sort of killed this class

We are still running XR2's here - but it ceratinly does not encourage people to come into the class or racing in general when it is an engine you cannot actually buy.

Maybe in time 4 litre and 6 litre will merge into one 6 litre (green engine) class and get going again - but Iwould not want to put money on it!

We could really do with soem new engines that fit the race market and a manufacturer / importer who is keen to go racing.

Westons Kodak (D-50) became 'Petrel stainless steel' then 'Sweet Dreams' under Richard Strutton ownership, got re-numbered D-32 after the sad Brass Wilcoxon accident, then got stretched/widened, but not finished (by Jimbo)

D-11 was originaly 'Fat Cat' from the CI's, (Paul Miller??) then 'Papa Kilo' under the new owner Rob mills (raced it with 'Hutchy')...then got stretched widened (version pictured by Adam) by Rob, He still owns it.

Thanks for filling in the history Jon - was trying to remeber the name of Rob Mills boat! Fat Cat - wasn't it owned by Jason Mucklow?

Anyway here is a familiar one for you.

Mmnn, I shit myself in that boat! It ran 111mph in 6 litre, and at that speed, it felt about 6 feet long!

Yeah, definitely 'got my attention'!

We were running 'as per' the uim ruling banning remote water pickups, when we arrived in Abu Dhabi, I don't think there was single boat that didn't have remote pickups!!

I reckon with remotes, we'd have run at least 5mph faster, but I think in retrospect, i was happy as we were.

Joe Donohoo designed it in '89
It's the one I was talking about the other day, that had plenty of inspiration from the '86 4 litre world champ NZ-1
